I'm not in a good enough headspace right now to sit down and write out some of my Anders/Nate fluff headcanons, but! I can offer you a somewhat nice (at least as far as things go in this particular fic) Nate/Anders moment in this week's chapter! Enjoy!

For Nanders Monday: AUs

AUs are kind of a staple for me loving the Nathaniel/Anders pairing, because in the end there is only so much angst I can handle and sometimes I need a bit of an escape from the few plausible scenarios I see them doing around canon events without going AU.

Belated Reunion - If you recognize this story name, that's because it's a fill that I'm working on [that I realize I haven't updated in forever] on the Kmeme. This is one that's only a slight AU in terms of Act 3, mostly because I think it is a shame that they didn't use the opportunity in the Finding Nathaniel quest to do a cameo for Sigrun and/or Oghren. So in my fic, they are with Carver when Nathaniel + Hawke and Company saves him.

The fic is based off of a prompt that asks for a threesome in two bodies. It also implies that Nathaniel and Anders weren't together in Awakening, but were definitely interested. So this story is them realizing their feelings for one another, and also learning how Justice plays into the equasion now.

Also I've added to the conversation Nathaniel has with Hawke initially, and included some conversation between Nathaniel and Anders in-transit to rescuing the rest of the Wardens.

So I don't really consider it much of an AU, even with other scenes I have planned, since I could easily see them happening in-between quests and such. The only way it'll be considerably more AU is if I decide to write the story all the way to the end of Act 3 in terms of events and see how things play out the same as well as differently because of the Wardens' presence.

The Misadventures of Nathaniel Howe's Grey Wardens - this is an AU that I haven't written out that I need to. It is an AU that assumes at the start two large things: 1. Hawke died in Lothering and Carver and Bethany go with Leandra to Krikwall and 2. Anders doesn't merge with Justice. Justice is still around and actually as of right now I'm not sure if he's just going to merge with Anders significantly later than it happens in canon or merge with Velanna instead. Also, while many of the events from DA2 "happen," many of them don't pan out the same way since Hawke isn't there.

Anyways. The story starts when Nathaniel is given his own unit of Wardens to command. What he doesn't know is that he is being tested, and being considered for a position as a Warden-Commander as the Wardens seek to expand their influence shortly after the Blight.

Nathaniel has two types of missions he's aware of at the start of the story: the jobs given to him by Weisshaupt, and also always looking for promising new recruits. His unit, along with all the other Wardens being considered for Commander positions, are wandering units and take their orders directly from Weisshaupt unless they are near a Warden compound when there's a crisis.

Their first mission as a unit is to locate Alistair, who is a Warden in this 'verse and not a King or drunkard. ...and I can't say too much more after that without spoiling.

Anyways, I consider this more of a Nathaniel story than a Nanders story, since the plot doesn't revolve around the romance. However, there are several relationships in this story that are incredibly important, and Nathaniel's relationship with Anders is one of them. It just happens to also have a romantic element mixed in.

Nathaniel and Anders were about to get into a relationship before Nathaniel was promoted, and he doesn't feel comfortable entering into a relationship with a subordinate since he's so used to it being frowned upon. So they eventually agree to get into this friendship-with-benefits thing, but both of them want more

And it'll eventually work out but other things need to happen first.

So yes, the story is pretty much Nathaniel being tested by Weisshaupt by how he completes quests, something else lurking in the background, and also Nathaniel's relationships with Anders and Sigrun, as well as the Wardens he recruits.

Nanders Monday Prompt: Bed

Do they always sleep on the same side of the bed?

Yes, except when Anders is all like *SPRAWLLL* or when Nathaniel's away on a mission. Then Anders sleeps on Nathaniel's side of the bed.

Are there blanket wars? Is someone always too hot or too cold? 

Anders is a total blanket hog, and Nathaniel fights to have any at all. This usually gets resolved by them spooning so they can share.

Do they share a bed or sleep separately? 

Depends on "when" in the relationship one is talking about, and what 'verse, etc. They generally don't share a bed until they've decided to make a serious commitment to one another.

What was it like the first night they slept together? (I mean ACTUALLY sleep, not the euphemism for sex!)

It was actually before they got into a relationship - they were out on a mission and one of the tents got destroyed during a skirmish with some darkspawn so they had to share.

And they were both so tired from the day's fighting that they both fell asleep fairly quickly. There was no blanket-stealing, since they each had their own bedroll.

What kind of bed do they have? Is it hard or soft? How many pillows? 

Again, depends on the 'verse, if it's AU, etc etc. If it's post DA2 they're on the run and their bed is either the ground or whatever inn they're staying at.

If it's during Awakening or shortly after, it's a Queen-sized bed, hard, with two pillows. Anders' pillow is soft and Nathaniel's is hard.

If it's in one of my AUs where Nathaniel is Warden-Commander, it's a king-sized wrought-iron four post bed. Firm mattress. Six pillows, because Nathaniel and Anders had to compromise and Anders wanted more (five usually ends up on his side, one of them Pounce often sleeps on).

What do they do when they’re traveling? 

They have a bedroll for two that they share.

Does someone have problems sleeping when it’s too loud or too quiet? What does the other do when that’s a problem?

Anders has grown used to noise all the time from being in the Circle (think of those dormitories, even when everyone is supposed to be asleep there's noise). Sometimes if he's having trouble sleeping, Nathaniel will whisper him stories.

Imagine that they discover something unexpected in their bed. What is it? How did it get there?

See, my first reaction is to say a dead mouse, but that is probably expected by that point since Pounce is such a great mouser. And, well, cats that hunt have been known to do this to their owners. Other than that, I am apparently being super uncreative tonight and not coming up with anything.
