I was wondering if you had any tips on dealing with divorcing parents of the children you care for. I'm currently in that situation and it's a bit awkward- i'm not sure how to navigate it. One situation that keeps happening is the parents go through me to figure out who has or hasn't paid me, and I find it a really difficult situation to be in.

I have never been a nanny for a family going through divorce, but I have far too many family members who have been there. It can be especially awful when there's lots of hostility.

The only other thing I can suggest is to create a log of the hours you work for each of them and to keep extensive track of how much each of them owes you. I know that divorcing couples can sometimes find everything they can to make things hard for each other, which often creates problems for everyone else. For you that might mean one refusing to pay you to make the other have to pay you more.
