Went and drew the PPG nanos together. I might do others in groups by their shows, but don’t expect too much of an order with these otherwise.
I’m trying not to stray too far from the actual designs of the nanos in-game, since they’re kind of like clones in a sense, but I wanted to be sure to add a bit of uniqueness to them as well since they are their own characters. For the nicknames, each of the girls got them after a different kind of spice--each of their personalities being more on the sassy side like their IE Donor, Silya. Saffron and Lemon don’t see much change beyond little differences in their accessories or have as much experience as Poppy, who’s technically the oldest nano of the bunch both by model-type and on Silya’s team.
Furthermore, while Saffron and Lemon exhibit a lot of similar personality traits to Blossom and Bubbles, Poppy differs a lot from Buttercup. While still rowdy in-battle, she’s much more reserved as an individual, letting her actions speak more than her words. This is due to being made in the Future and experiencing the hardships of its apocalyptic setting to a much harsher degree. She’s very close to her IE Donor, who for a while would almost solely use her in combat situations, even after returning to the past.
Since I finally got all of the sketches done for my bigger fancomic for FusionFall, I decided to go ahead and post a Nano Datacard for who this first bit is focused on: My character’s nano Demongo, “Aoi.”
And since I can use this as an example for the Nano Datacard’s themselves, I might as well go into design preferences a bit and some of the lore behind the differences between nanos:
So the reasoning behind the physical differences between nanos is that--while their appearances and personalities still are partially drawn from their original model heroes/villains as I’ve talked about before--it also stems from the Imaginary Energy (IE) used in their creation. Think back to the FHFIF episode, “Bloo’s Brothers.” In that episode, the kids from Mac’s school love Bloo so much that they all make variations of him. Following the same, basic principal, IE Donors also imprint a part of their own selves onto their nanos. Sometimes, this will include personal views regarding the models or an IE Donor’s desires/needs that would normally be passed along to an imaginary friend.
So, for "Aoi” here, the mindset would’ve been for him to appear less threatening with a more rounded look. His IE Donor won’t let him use souls, so he doesn’t have the skulls the real Demongo would typically possess. Other nano Demongos may differ in a variety of ways--some with more exaggerated features, while others follow this more “cutesy” look and more still are downright little terrors. It all varies.
Bit of a side-track thought, but I imagine too--once less focus has to be devoted to the war effort--some businesses would spring up specifically for nanos so people could get clothes and other goods made specifically for them. So people can think of accessorizing with that mindset too.
Here’s a link to the blank nano datacard if anyone wants to use it: https://silyabeeodess.tumblr.com/post/186998524899/nano-datacards
Hey, all! I’m having a little trouble getting work done tonight, so I went ahead and made something for all of my new FusionFall followers--particularly for any other artists out there! ;) Those of you reading my headcanons have probably already seen where ones of my ideas behind nanos is that their initial personalities are drawn from both the heroes/villains they’re modeled from and from the imaginary energy of their IE donors (mainly, the Fusion Fighters). While I’ll likely still normally refer to them as their character-selves (ex. Nano Mandark) in any fanfiction to avoid confusion, I’ve made a list giving my nanos nicknames to highlight their separate personalities and placement on the team for possible comics. Rather than post that list, that’s what’s led for me to come up with these: The Nano Datacards.
For my own fanwork, Nano Datacards will be just a simple way to keep track of my nanos and their various traits, and so that you all can refer to them later if you notice any design choices or characteristics that don’t match the original characters and want to know why. However, I’d like to leave this blank version (shown at the bottom) for you all in case any of you would also like to just have fun with a drawing meme. If you do use this, I just ask that you please link this post with your finished datacards and/or tag me: It’d be awesome if we could share this around and I’d love to see your own work! :)
So, with that said, onto the different sections:
Moniker: Your nickname for your nano.
Nano Model: The character your nano is based on. (You can write the name of the character, but for story-purposes, I’ll list my nanos by a code, OGM standing for Original Model. For example, OGM-1 will represent the Buttercup nano, while OGM-21 will represent the Grim nano. These numbers follow the levels we get our nanos in FusionFall Retro. However, if the game makes any major updates, such as including Academy nanos, this may change or I may add a new coding variety.)
Nano Type: Whether your nano is Adaptium, Blaston, or Cosmix.
Nano Power: The ability you selected for your nano.
Notes: Any additional info about your nano. This can be quirks, interesting facts or history, similarities or differences to their model hero/villain, etc.
Empty blank section: The final section below everything else is a space for you to draw your nano.
For something to relate these to the game itself (and to add another headcanon) think of these as an assignment from Dexlabs and Mandark Industries. With nanos spread all across Earth’s forces in the battle against Fuse, research is made to constantly improve them. Fusion Fighters have been asked to record data about their nanos, including key traits, to help further that research. What sorts of things have you noticed about your own team?
Here’s my Datacard for my character’s nano Demongo if any of you would like to see it as an example:

Final note: The symbol on the card is a traced version of the official nano insignia/emblem from the game. I take no credit for it.
