Hello #SCVNaNoWriMos! I’m set up at #PaneraBreadGoldenValley. My computer has decided to eat my writing time by dying even though for 3 weeks in NJ it didn’t give me a twitch. It’s updating to the latest OS now in an attempt to fix it so no writing going on for me yet. But I’m happy to talk story arcs and plotting if you want. And of course, I brought my power strip. #NaNoWriMo2016 #Day26: Back at it. I won't say I lost Thursday because I spent it with some pretty awesome people I call family and, except for a few token words (75, I think) I didn't get to write anything. I did lose Friday. All those sick people I've come in contact with passed on a bug. It wasn't the worst I've ever felt but I couldn't write. I spent the day sleeping it off. Kind of made the night difficult so I'm working on little sleep for illness reasons but I woke feeling SO much better. Next obstacle is its Saturday, my full workday. I may be able to get some writing sprints in between my work sprints but I'm still sluggish and slow from being sick and I'm not working at @gailrdelaney 's which usually keeps me to task (not getting her sick). #NaNoWriMo2016 For those of you stuck or struggling, I've been recommending this site one WriMo at a time so I thought I'd share it across the boards. This is: writingexercises.co.uk . It's a very helpful site and my go-to when I'm stuck. It has a random word generator, plot generator, line generator, what-if scenarios, traits, images, plus lots lots more. It's awesome at helping you break through a back up. But beware! You can also get sucked into it for a while if you're not careful to keep yourself on point. #NaNoWriMo2016 #Day18: Today it was finally cold enough in Southern California to dig out my #NaNoWriMo hoodie. Nice and thick, that sweater! Now I'm gonna hit the #WordMines. #NaNoWriMo2016 #Day16: Checking in after a bit of a laps due to, well, life. It's been an over-all great NaNo so far even though I'm currently 4K behind. I've managed to somehow still be present in my kids' lives while doing this this year so I'm taking that as a win. I've also never been this close to the target at this point. And get that, WriMo's: WE ARE OVER THE HUMP! These last two weeks are going to FLY by. Keep writing, keep riding the wave your persistence has generated. And if you're behind remember that any words you have now are more words then you had on November 1. #NaNoWriMo2016 #Day10: Today is going to be crazy so I'm taking a few minutes to check in, fuel up, update my board, and then go. I have a doctor's appointment for my eldest in an hour and #HollywoodShowcase in L.A. for my second youngest which starts check in between 8-11 - that one is an Industry convention of sorts that runs from today through Sunday. (A convention I still haven't packed for, Save Me!) The challenges to my word count are obvious. There are some bright points: 1. I am currently about a day ahead (that lead can go down the toilet very quick but I've never really been a day ahead at this point in NaNo so I'm going to bask for a few, ok?! 😄). Ok, done basking. 2. The convention is really for my daughter so, even though there are some events for parents, mostly it's the kids doing the work (which translates to writing time for me, whoot! IF I can concentrate in those surroundings, that is). 3. My husband will be there, too, sharing the burdens (and classes) so it doesn't all fall to me (double Whoot!). And 4. The event is happening at the #MillenniumBiltmoreHotelLosAngeles which, if you've been following my excerpts you might recognize as the setting my MC is currently at/around. #NaNoWriMo2016 #Day7: Yesterday I not only hit the daily goal, I surpassed it and hit my personal goal (2k) plus some. But, as Scarlet says, "Tomorrow is another day." And today is yesterday's tomorrow. ::blink blink:: Whoa. That was deeper and my esoteric then I meant to go. 😂 What I meant is: Today is a new day. (Thank you, Chicken Little.) It's an election year (yeah, I know you know) so get your vote on, then #HitTheWordMines. #NoExcuses #NaNoCheer #NaNoWriMo but also #CivicDuty. 💋PS It's only the idea of it that hurts.
