“The conscious mind is the editor, and the subconscious mind is the writer.” - Steve Martin • Chris reminded me of this quote yesterday and it really clicked. To let go of the judgement of your words, open your mind and free flow accept everything channeling through. I get asked a lot about how to overcome writer’s block and I think a lot of writer’s block is because of the fear of writing something bad, the words not being “good enough”. And you know is what? First drafts *never are*. That’s why they are first drafts. Crafting, working on sentence structure, continuity—leave that to the editing stage. A finished book can’t be a book without a finished first draft. The most important thing is to complete that manuscript, no matter what! I snuffed out any of my own criticality yesterday and came up for air with two new chapters completed! That is a really good day for me 🙂. I’m behind (of course), but here’s my author introduction for #nanothatwrimo! 👋 If we haven’t met, let me introduce myself. My name is Kelsie, and I’m a writer. It took me a long time to accept that about myself, but I’ve finally embraced it. I love to write stories of hope and heartbreak, and for me that encompasses both contemporary women’s fiction and fairy tale inspired fantasy. My current WIP is heavily inspired by my hometown of North Pole, Alaska—where we say it’s always winter but never Christmas. 😉🤣 ❄️ I have two kids, a 4 year old son and a 10.5 month old daughter. Role Play Hiatus in Effect, Personal Shit below the cut

I’m-I’m feeling a sense of malaise. My time dysphoria isn’t helping. I tried to work. I think I was doing a part time job for a month before I had to step away. I mean I’m no closer to finding out what’s wrong with my shoulder then I was a year ago. I just realized my period’s been absent for a while, and it is actually impossible for me to be pregnant. So now I have a whole bunch of issues, and because I live in New England the sun won’t be seen for days, even though its May.

On June the 4th, I’m flying to Virginia to see my Dad. For two whole weeks. I’m kind of hoping it will clear my head.

I’m doing that spiral thing I do. Where I’m so starved for interaction I make a gazillion RP blogs. And then feel stupid about it.

I caught myself trying to make a new OC today. I have drafts piled up and I wanted to add another to the agenda.

I think I need some down time. So I’m going to try to keep posting here, just here, once a day.  Maybe drabble. Maybe thoughts and feelings.

But I think I need to chill, recharge my batteries. Do something while I wait for doctors to call me back. But I think I need to tune out the tumblr problem for a bit.
