A man with dark wavy brown hair and a little stubble stepped forward, standing far too straight backed as she stared into his eyes with a smoldering look that was a little more than just serious. He stared back, one eyebrow almost raised and the right edge of his lip quirking up furtively.
“As lieutenant governor, you are in charge in the event that the governor is indisposed or misplaced,” she said quickly, glaring at him with more than the necessary businessness. “Be careful.”
Logan smiled a winning smile and nodded. “Yes ma’am,” he said in a low, musical voice that reverberated through the air and across my chest.
The words the two shouted in their silence rang through the air, almost drowning out Stefan’s yelling for a fire.
“Get back in your houses,” Annie said after a few pregnant minutes (or was it hours?) "And close the door when I leave."
