Such a sweet child. One moment Yuu was running circles around her, highly energetic and goodness, so noisy, but the moment she started reading him a story, he’d settle in against her side, cuddle up, and eventually go to sleep. It worked like a charm each time.

She smiled at the dark, wild hair where his head was resting on her chest, his legs pulled up onto the chaise; Horn should move him, she really should, he’d get a crick in his neck sleeping like this, but… it was nice. His body was still small and light, and so warm, like a little ball of sunshine nestled against her, the easy affection of a young boy before everything regarding girls and affection and showing weakness became icky. Those moments would be way too fleeting.

A good thing she didn’t actually have to breathe; no matter how much she adored Crowley, the man was twice her size and after rolling over, nabbing her like a bodypillow and snuggling down, had promptly fallen asleep, his body half covering hers.

Horn sighed quietly, but a smile tugged at the corners of her mouth. His arms around her felt secure, his breath warm fanning against the curve of her neck where his face was nestled. She wrapped her arms around his shoulders, fingertips idly running through his hair; it was unlikely he’d let her go any time soon like this, so settling in was the only thing to do. Not that she minded.

Juniper was probably going to be embarrassed for falling asleep by the time someone woke her up. She’d come to the agency having made cookies for everyone rather spontaneously, but everyone except for Trucy and Phoenix had been out of the office at the time, and they’d just been heading out for one of Trucy’s shows. They informed Junie that Athena and Apollo were in court in the middle of a case currently, and they’d be back soon, inviting her to wait here on the couch and make herself at home. So she’d waited there, watching a rerun of The Pink Princess but wound up curling up on the couch there and falling asleep somehow, the basket of cookies sitting on a table nearby.

He’d noticed her weariness when he first arrived, but she quickly waved off the suggestion of postponing the lesson. He hardly needed them anymore, his voice barely halting as he read aloud, but she didn’t want to lose a reason to spend time with him. Even if she was barely awake for it.

He paused when her head fell onto his shoulder, raising a brow. “Are you falling asleep?”

“No,” she answered, eyes closed. A blatant lie, but she was comfortable and warm and he was close. “Keep reading, please.”

His soft chuckle was the last thing she heard before drifting off.
