Napoleon's exile residence on St. Helena
Starting New...
Just to let my followers know, this blog used to be called "Sexy Men From History" however, I've decided since following http://fuckyeahhistorycrushes.tumblr.com/ that I will retire my previous blogs aim, and redirect course. I don't feel the need to update and occupy when there's a perfect blog touching on the same subject.
Since it was full of Napoleon anyway, this is now going to be aimed strictly at anything directly Napoleon related.
La Paille Au Nez
The boys at Napoleon's school used to tease him, and call him 'la paille au nez' which became his nickname at Brienne.
It means "straw up his nose", but its origin is a fanciful rearrangement of Napoléon => Lopaloné => La paille au nez. A peasant coming from some tiny off-shore island might well be seen as still having straw in his hair or elsewhere: being a hayseed.
