in ygo there's a dragonmaid archetype and we had most of them in both humanoid and dragonoid form for years
but there was one that we didn't have a dragon form for and it was very mysterious like hmm what could she be like what is the secret
everyone speculated for years what she would look like well anyway we finally got her dragon form as legacy support and
something about this is so funny to me. she looks so goofy and i dont even know why. her beakie...
my new theory is that she thinks she looks silly in dragon form and so she barely ever transforms and that's why it took so long for her to show up
...anyway to continue their commitment to the bit they added ANOTHER even higher ranked maid with form unknown so check back in in 2030 for when we learn what lady's maid turns into
It's hard to say why, but despite similar domains, earlier YGO monster designs do feel as though they're drawing on a different stylistic basis than early MTG ones. I don't want to just say "cultural differences", but maybe YGO's monsters are a bit more... cartoony? And hence feel RPG-y
early magic fixated heavily on paintings and sketches but also is clearly kinda dnd to me. it really really wanted you to feel like you were living in that western 20th century fantasy world that adorned covers and stuff lol. ygo was more digital and rarely had backgrounds or scenes

got reminded about yubel again... how can one perfect character elevate a show with 100 eps of decent-to-mid into one of my favs ever...
the way yubel's voice changes is so jarring and basic, but it's somehow so affecting because so rarely have i seen anyone do abrupt surfacing and submerging voices like that, it's such a strange thing to do and keep doing that it really becomes beautifully unique
