The kind of girl who is as fiery as she is sweet; Nari has been called a little ray of sunshine, which is true in more tan one way. Nari Gim, known as Little Lily to her parents, and just plain old Nari to everyone else, was born in Daegu, but doesn’t remember much of her life there. Her parents decided to make the move to Merrock at the advice of family friends who loved the little town by the sea. Childhood was pretty sweet for the girl, she was bright and friendly, quickly forming a social circle for herself. Nari had cute boyfriends, was friends with cute girls, cheered for the football team, got to wear a crown for one of her winter formals, and loved to make extremely elaborate designs for home economics when it came time to learn how to sew (something she attributed to her mother, who worked as a seamstress). She loved to spend her free time arranging elaborate bouquets of wild flowers to put on the dinner table every night.

After high school, Nari decided to pursue that love of designing, chasing after her dream of fashion as she headed to New York City (with her mother and father in tow), and studied at a design school. It was there that she truly flourished, making a whole new set of friends, dating different people, and really beginning to come into herself. She was at the top of her class, and it was really no surprise when she landed herself an internship at a well-known, prestigious design firm in London, which led to Nari packing her bags and making a huge move all over again as she traveled overseas and settled into a brand new life. (This time without mom and dad.)

Not long after the move, Nari found herself slowly and then very quickly falling for one of the lead designers at the firm, Morgan. The two dated for a little while, until keeping things secret became too hard, and they just decided to come out with it, announcing not just their relationship but also the fact that they were getting married. Inviting only his family and hers, they tied the knot in a gorgeous botanical garden, and settled into living the perfect life together. They had grand ideas of the future: having children, building a beautiful house in the countryside, growing their own fashion label together… but it all came to a screeching halt after Morgan tragically passed in an accident, leaving Nari alone in London and wondering what there really was left for her in the life they had been trying to build together.

But she was never one to stay down, and soon decided to pick herself back up, moving ‘home’ to Merrock. She found the little house her family loved still unoccupied, and bought it, fixing everything up to her taste and began to pick up where her mother left off, converting the upstairs space into a makeshift studio where she could design and work on clothes for fellow Merrockites in town. Not long after, she accepted a job as a pilates and yoga instructor at Breathe In, where she had been taking classes every day, and soon after that, decided to help out at Lavender Lane for their spring flower season, which turned into a full-time position.

Since fully settling into her life in Merrock, Nari has found far more good than bad, despite the hand she was dealt. She lives in the little home that she loved growing up, has fresh eggs every morning from her flock of chickens, teaches pilates to friends, gets to bury her fingers in soil at the nursery, and is living out her dream of creating her own fashion label under Red Cottage Designs.
