(This has been percolating in my mind for months now, and that last post makes this a relevant time to finally write it down.)
Some are fandoms, some are anti-fandoms (*cough* FROZEN *cough*), some are a weird combination of both (looking at you, Twilight). I tend to categorize them as minor and major, based on my level of participation and care about them.
For example, I like Harry Potter, Circle of Magic, Hunger Games, and Lord of the Rings. These are minor fandoms that I enjoy, but don’t do much (if any) fanstuff for. I love Supernatural (1-5), Coraline, and H2O: Just Add Water. These are major fandoms for which I have created substantial (and sometimes multiple) universes. Sailor Moon and Twilight hover somewhere in between.
Narnia runs in my blood, rings in my bones, thunders in my heart, and sings in my soul.
Narnia is forever and unalterably part of me. It encompasses everything--the suffering of this world, the longing for a better one, the dream of good triumphing over evil, the desire to see and know and walk with God in a very real way. My suffering, my longing, my dream, my desire. My home, and my God. Narnia has owned me since I was six years old.
Narnia is different, and I cannot call “friend” any who trample on it.
