CINDERELLA’S CASTLE SPOILERS YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

Words cannot express how much I want the Narrator to be one of the Gods. Like- okay.

The Fairy Queen of Sweet Dreams specifically said that all the Gods she has seen rise and fall are ‘false creations of man’. Meaning the Nine Good Gods etc are not real Gods but probably misinterpretations/mythologised versions of real gods conceived through centuries of telephone. Thedrah Goddess of Love and Light doesn’t exist, but the Fairy Queen does Y’know. At least that’s what I got from it.

So there are other gods - who aren’t good or evil, but just are, as the Fairy Queen said. And… The Narrator is Chaotic Neutral (literally Jeff said that lmao). He commands and directs the ensemble without even being seen by them. He will occasionally make contact with the characters in the play (bumping into the Prince at the ball) but be equally dismissed by them. At the end of Ash to Ash he reveals himself after being part of the the Fairy Queens hand ensemble (either they’re her hands or just her fae helpers idk). Obviously all of this doesn’t NEED to be explained he’s the fucking Narrator, but it would fuck so hard if it ends up being revealed that he’s like. The God of Stories or something like that. Forever a voyeur, telling the tales of the manfolk to the manfolk, unseen but always present.

If they continue the Lands That Are into a series (PLEASE GOD) characters like the Narrator and Ragweed are prime for recurring roles. I want more of them. Also Ella cameo or at least an offhand mention of the ‘Queen Ashmore’ please and thank you but I digress.

Anyway, I Hereby Headcanon the Narrator as a funky Fae dude until the text disproves me.
