and then there was Uncle Gerion who was like "here Tyrion have all these books on history and geography and dragons and magic." Idk in my head canon he was the one who treated Tyrion the best as a child which makes it even more tragic that he just disappeared into the abyss somewhere :(

I just think Tyrion's inquisitive/curious nature - wanting to know how the world works, how cultures differ, why things the are the way they are - started from such an innocent place and guhhhhh I just hate that that was taken from him, you know?  You can still see it a little in his desire to visit the Wall, but by ADwD, when he's actually seeing all those places he's dreamed about, it's all but destroyed, you know?

And it's good that Tyrion had those books - shout out to you, Uncle Gerion - but they shouldn't have been all he had sdklfjsldfjk.  I'm drinking wine again SORRY.
