Cable ties and naïve beauty at Christopher Kane SS2016

“She is a creation coming out of a destruction. A raw and undone girl, unaware about her own beauty. Bushy and feral brows and effortless skin. Naïve beauty that is childlike and honest.” That is how Lucia Pieroni for NARS Cosmetics summed up the look that was showcased at Christopher Kane SS2016 show. Long story short, it was an easy look framed and strengthen by the brows. Key products were NARSskin Luminous Moisture Cream, NARSskin Optimal Brightening Concentrate, NARSskin Total Replenishing Eye Cream and Pure Radiant Tinted Moisturizer for skin, while cheeks were contoured with Anguilla Matte Multiple, eyes slicked with the pink tinged Sexual Healing Lipstick shade and lips were patted with Rosecliff Lipstick (out in spring).

But the real focus was on the hairstyle: Guido Palau for Redken used abunch of multicolored cable ties to secure ponytails. Well, no doubt those girls were coming out of a destruction!

Playing with shine at J.W. Anderson SS2016

If you are still wondering if next season it will all be about skin, well, once again it appear to be so. At J.W. Anderson, makeup artist Mark Carrasquillofor NARS Cosmetics said his look for the SS2016 show was “A study of flesh tones and bringing back the brow bone”. 

To achieve the luminous and flawless finish that went down the catwalk, Carrasquillo prepped the skin with the beauty hero of the season, NARSskin Luminous Moisture Cream*, followed by Radiant Creamy Concealer and Stick Concealer where needed and Radiant Cream Compact Foundation along with All Day Luminous Powder Foundation. What he did was playing with shine on cheeks and brow bones, mixing the Copacabana Illuminator with a haze of darker foundation on cheeks and topping it with Triple X Lip Gloss on the brow bones. The result was a sort of “bruised” flush and whiter brow bones that stood out from the whole look. Lashed were curled and had no mascara on while lips were moisturized with some Bianca Pure Sheer Lip Treatment.

The textured poetic vibe at Rodarte SS2016

At Rodarte Spring/Summer 2016, everything was soft and natural, even the beauty look.

Working with NARS Cosmetics, makeup artist pro James Kaliardos wanted to echo the inspiration of the collection - the poets - creating something natural but deep. The result was something luxurious, smooth, glowy and monochromatic:  skin was prepped with NARSSkin Luminous Moisture Cream (a must of this season, apparently) and evened-out with Velvet Matte Skin Tint, out in 2016. Craving Dual-Intensity Blush was used to highlight both cheeks and eyes and Belle De Jour Velvet Matte Lip Pencil was applied for a wash of pink color on the lips.

To continue the flowing and romantic vibe, Odile Gilbert for Kérastase created a easy and flowing hairstyle, embellished with have gold and silver barrettes that were complemented by the nail look, a reverse french tip courtesy of Miss Pop for OPI.

Organic new romanticism at 3.1 Philip Lim SS2016

It was a kind of organic new romanticism at 3.1 Philip Lim SS2016. To underscore the show’s organic vibe, Francelle Daly for Nars Cosmetics prepped the skin with NARSskin Luminous Moisture Cream and kept it naked and natural, with just a wash of matte foundation (the forthcoming Nars Velvet Matte Skin Tint) and Stick Concealer where needed. There were no highlights, no contouring, no cheeks colour at all: “The skin was organic, clean, simple, earthy and real”. Lips were kept bare with just a hint of moisture courtesy of Bianca Pure Sheer SPF Lip Treatment. The feeling of new romanticism, the new wave, was introduced by a vibrant pop colour drawn onto the eye in a disconnected shape via Nars Solomon Islands Eye Paint (half the girls sported black lines, Nars Black Valley Eye Paint, instead), that was matched with no mascara, naked lids and brushed brows (Oural Brow Gel). “It’s almost like a cut-out eye line, when you close your eye, there’ a negative space”. It’s a kick of colour, but with a twist.

At last, something matte at Thakoon SS2016

Going countertrend on what is happening in all the other backstages at Thakoon they gave up with glossy, moisturized skin opting for something more matte. Diane Kendal for NARS Cosmetics, in fact, skipped the ever-present NARSskin Luminous Moisture Cream in favor of the brand’s Aqua Gel Luminous Oil-Free Moisturizer that was matched with the forthcoming Velvet Matte Skin Tint (out in spring) for a more matte finish. “Effortless beauty - natural, healthy and glowing” was the brief, indeed even if the skin wasn’t glossy it was not dull at all either and a touch of glow and shine was delivered on lips and lids with a hint of the Triple X Lip Gloss. To finish the look Diane Kendal, brushed the brows with Brow Perfector and set them in place with the Brow Gel and enhanced cheeks with both Impassioned Blush (out in spring) and the Craving Dual-Intensity Blush.
