I wasn't able to feature Glasses with a Chance of Delinquent in a pretty photo last week for release day, but I'm fixing that today because OF COURSE I have to feature my shoujo faves in a pretty photo! 

I haven't had a chance to reread this volume physically, but it has one of my favorite chapters!! 😍

So I love Glasses with a Chance of Delinquent for a plethora of reasons, but bonus points go to the fact that, while it does fall into some shoujo tropes that get old fast, it also makes it a point to repeatedly portray Ichikura as a teenage boy who's just as excited and smitten with his first girlfriend as she is with him.

Staring at her nonstop after they start dating simply because her hair looks different than usual, becoming so giddy with excitement whenever Momose asks him out that he does everything in his power to ensure they'll be alone (often ditching Igarashi), growing nervous and dejected if he can't keep his promise not to fight he made to her because he's afraid of disappointing her, usually keeping his cool yet immediately getting "carried away" the moment Momose does something he finds cute...

This isn't the first time we see a usually composed and collected male lead become a hot mess around his girl, but I dunno, it feels like a distinctively different flavour of shoujo boyfriend. And I love that 💖💖💖
