( 🌙 )   SHE'S BEEN ATTEMPTING to get a word in for about a minute now after sitting down , head tilted somewhat as she quietly listens to aventurine talk about .. something .. she was sure it was important ( a business opportunity ? stars this line of conversation reminded her of a certain blunette on belobog .. though anything with aventurine had much more luck of success. aeons listen to her ) but it wasn't the reason she had called him here.

REMOVING THE CAREFULLY maintained ( and nice smelling ? ) case from her person she placed it on the table between the two of them 'fore resting her hands on the table.   ❝ ---- YOU REALLY NEED to take a breath , aventurine .. this is for you by the way. i taste tested the first batch myself so , y'know , its not poisoned or anything bad i promise.   ❞   great , lumine .. what a way to start this interaction off.

Bright yellows and delicate golds greeted her gaze as soon as she opened the door. Sweet florals fill the air around her - delicate and warm. Petals bloomed in all directions like individual suns wrapped in delicate pink paper. Baby breath fills in the gaps between gold and green with occasional foilage. They were beautiful, breathtaking even. Yet - why were they here? She couldn't recall a time she'd ever gotten flowers besides when injured and in a hospital. Never just because or for other reasons. She also hadn't ordered any.

Hands draw to her chest, eyes wide in disbelief. Glancing up and down at the large floral arrangement and towards the pair of hands holding them out. Wait - was that . . . ?

❝ Naruto - kun ? ❞

She whispered. Moon-kissed eyes trailing upwards to try and see his face from over pink and gold. Considerably shorter than the sunshine of a man who matched the beautiful arrangements before her. Why was he here - with flowers? Were they for her? But - Why would he . . . ? ❝ Naruto - kun is that you? ❞

Sunday knew all too well the pressure of precariously maintaining the facade of one's persona. Meticulously spending hours agonizing over it, this illusion, this performance act. Tie should be on the center line- the shirt must not protrude from the best, trouser creases should be perfectly straight, and always aligned with the tips of the shoes...

Life quickly became tiring when every waking moment felt like method acting, trying to fit the role of the person he wanted others to believe. -- There was relief in giving up. Somewhat. To this endless charade. Letting the crew of the express see all the different facets of himself, even those he felt unflattering. Moderation was the answer to most things in the end. A lesson he had quickly come to learn.

It's been far too long since he drank real liquor. -- The taste of something other than soulglad shines brightly on his tongue; Almost as brightly as the man sitting next to him. The bar lighting illuminating every fine detail of their ensemble. Flashy jewelry and golden watches gleaming in the overhead.

Taste was something the halovian had always held in high regard when it came to the gambler -- among a myriad of other qualities.

"You must get tired of hearing it. Robin never said as much, but I know the attention would occasionally weigh on her." Even in his drunken stupor, he isn't quite yet that oblivious.

He reaches out to take their hand, palms soft against Aventurines own, turning it over to admire his freshly painted nails in a striking blue-green.

How did he find her - ? Why was he here? Questions she wanted to voice but couldn't find the strength to. Long lashes fluttered a bit - indigo hair obscuring part of her face as she remained slumped against a tree.

It was supposed to just be a simple convoy escort. It was a low-ranked mission as the routes had been rather safe as of late. Even with the war having ended it didn't mean those that lurked in the shadows would remain silent forever. It seemed a small convoy escorted by a lone Konoichi proved to be too tempting of a target. While she had managed to protect the convoy - it came at a cost. Having taken more than one blow in exchange for protecting merchants. An underhanded trick knowing she couldn't just let them be injured. There had just been too many for one person to handle.

Perhaps it was the merchants who had sent an emergency request for help. All she could do was sit there and beat herself up. How could she survive a war just to end up stabbed and gravely injured due to a raid? Was she really that weak and pathetic? Sure - it had been blows taken to protect people but she still couldn't help but feel pathetic in that moment. Even she has pride.

❝ I - I think so. B - but the . . . the kunai - ❞

She whispered out - barely audible. It was the most severe injury she had received. Embedded still in her abdomen as removing it without immediate medical care would result in her bleeding profusely at a dangerous rate. Currently, she didn't have the chakra or strength left in her to heal herself either. Various other injuries were patched up by the convoy team but they would need tending to eventually. The other more notable one was the injury to her shoulder.

❝ How did you . . .❞

She breathed. Wanting nothing more than to just fall asleep even if every survival instinct in her was screaming that was a horrible idea. Rather torn between crying out of frustration with herself and simply letting her eyes flutter shut.

Small delicate hands cupped either side of his face. Gentle and slow - not wishing to startle the man. Idly wondering if anyone had ever shown him gentle affection without demanding something in return. No catch - just a soft thanks for all he had done. Her heart aching at the thought that such kindness was a rarity for him.

Slowly leaning down to press her lips softly to his forehead. Much like she had often done for her younger sister when praising her for a well-done job. It was chaste - nothing more than a friendly peck. Going no further than that as she leaned backward to gaze down with soft pale hues.

❝ Thank you. . . for existing, Naruto - kun. ❞

Words whispered out ever so slowly. She was so glad he had been born. So honored to call herself his friend. He had changed her - inspired her. So now she wanted to repay the favor the only way she knew how. To encourage him to keep moving. One step at a time.

❝ For all you have done for all of us. . . for being you. You've done so much. . . fought so hard. It must have been difficult - just surviving. You're so much stronger than most think. I. . . I'm so glad. . . I got to meet you, Naruto. ❞
