REGARDING MANGASTREAM’S “INCORRECT” TRANSLATIONS

Remember THIS post? It’s OrganicDinosaur saying that the kids are definitely not swearing in the new Naruto Gaiden chapter.

Well, tactiswat reblogged my post and said.. nevermind, I’ll copy-paste it:

“ Mangastream has been randomly janking out of character swears into their translations for years, I don’t understand why, but it’s gotten really overt recently. Back in the day they did this to Shaman King and to Reborn when it was running and even then nobody knew what the hell was up (it was especially weird cause they were making characters swear or speak bluntly that it made no sense for, like Tsuna and Ren). And then there was the Cowadoody shit talking use of the term “Rape” that they had Kenpachi use a few chapters back. Like, they aren’t doing it to be dramatic they’re doing it to be edgy assholes. And I know this is the case cause they make tl;dr translation posts about shit nobody cares about or how context is difficult but they continue to have characters scream FUCK out of nowhere even when it breaks the flow of the scene and alters the actual context.

If it wasn’t for the fact mangapanda’s cleaners think the blur tool is necessary for cleaners, or if they could put together a grammatically correct sentence more than twice per chapter, I’d probably read them instead.

Honestly I’d consider sending your complaints to them instead of making tumblr posts because maybe if more than just me keeps making comments on it, they’ll actually cut it out. And considering they banned me from Disqus I can’t even do anything but tell them they’re doing it wrong on their facebook page. http://mangastream.com/content/application Maybe if you adress the issue via “applying” for the translation postion which apparently they need help with (now that I recall I think they used to have different translators for different manga so you got shit like swearing tsuna while the main shonen jump series weren’t as bad, so I guess now that guy is doing ALL the translations and he really shouldn’t be.) “

TRANSLATION ERRORS REALLY DO ALTER THE WAY YOU VIEW THE CHARACTERS AND THEY ALSO MAKE YOU MISS THE UNDERTONE.

KNOWINGLY CHANGING THE ORIGINAL WORDS FOR CURSES IS AN INSULT TO THE AUTHOR. NOT TO MENTION IT’S ANNOYING.

WORDS ARE AN ESSENTIAL PART OF EVERY STORY.

(I mean what if my grandma wanted to read this Naruto chapter and she saw a 12-year old girl cursing in front of her mother? She would be like WTF are you reading. LOLOL okay bad example but you get it.)

CHAPTER 700+1 (AKA IMPOSTER NARUTO)

I COULDN’T FIND ANYBODY THAT CARED TO SHARE MY FEELINGS WITH SO I HOPE I HAVE BETTER LUCK HERE.

I DID NOT READ THIS NEW “CHAPTER”, AND IT WAS DEFINITELY NOT WHAT I WANTED WHEN I WAS HOPING FOR NARUTO CHAPTER 701 BECAUSE I HATED CHAPTER 700, I DIDN’T EVEN LEGITIMATELY READ IT BECAUSE I HAD ALREADY SEEN ENOUGH SPOILERS FOR MY SOUL TO BE BROKEN. SO THIS WHOLE “SCANDAL” THING ABOUT SALADE JUST MAKES ME FEEL LIKE THROWING UP. FIRST OF ALL, WHAT KIND OF GIRL EVEN MARRIES A GUY WHO TRIED TO KILL HER 21323 TIMES, AND SECOND OF ALL, I HONESTLY DON[T BELIEVE SASUKE WOULD PUT HIS DICK IN ANYBODY LET ALONE KARIN OR SAKURA BECAUSE I FEEL LIKE HE’D BE THE TYPE TO THINK THAT NOBODY IS WORTHY OF HIS DICK.
