Konan was constantly described as one pillar supporting two bridges...
This metaphor could only ever end in disaster. Of course everything fell apart for the three of them.
Konan was the one doing the groundwork for Yahiko and Nagato's plans. Konan was anchored in reality while Yahiko and Nagato had their heads in the clouds. Konan loyally held the weight of Yahiko and Nagato's dreams above her, even though it left her living in the darkness of real shadows cast under bridges made up of pretty ideals.
In the end, Konan stayed in the Rain village. Fixed in place, she fought Obito with everything she had, standing tall to protect her home.
Isn't it ironic that Konan, known for her stunning wings, never really flew very high at all?
(The other part of the story of Icarus, that often goes unsaid, is that he was also warned not to fly too low because the spray of the ocean would soak his feathers. The water's surface would come closer and closer until Icarus would drown, pulled down by his heavy wings.)
