ramendattebayo:
Naruto took it as a good sign that Boruto hadn’t immediately slammed the door in his face. Holding back a relieved sigh, he let his lips lift in a hopeful smile, trying to mask his uncertainty and nerves.
“A second chance?” He said in an uncharacteristically subdued tone. Spreading his palms out, he added, “I know I haven’t been the best father, and that you probably have no reason to trust me, but I am sorry and I’m hoping I can make it up to you ‘ttebayo.”
The younger Uzumaki blinked a few times, staring at his dad and processing his options. The first desire had been to just say ‘no’ and slam the door, but a different part of him, a part buried inside him, really just missed his dad.
And instead of giving in and forgiving his dad then and there, he wanted to make the older Uzumaki earn it. “Why should I?” There was no point in trying again if Naruto wouldn’t really try.
