notes: is Nash king of the trash heap now? Maybe.
Vivid dreams left him restless through the nights, Enzo would toss and he’d turn - haunted by nightmares that he couldn’t explain. Sometimes he was on all fours, bounding over city streets and fallen leaves, other times he stood at a monstrous height and towered over someone’s quivering frame. They weren’t every night, but when Lorenzo woke up in the morning he felt tired, his stomach growled and he could taste iron on his tongue as if it had been him who’d snapped his teeth at a screaming victim.
Enzo splashed water on his face to try and wash the dreams away, but he’d catch his own reflection and see a pair of haunting red eyes that were so foreign from his own. He knew enough that whatever he was dreaming about wasn’t him, that monster... That thing was something that only crept out on a full moon. Something was wrong with him and he didn’t have anyone to turn to about it, what would he even say? Hey bro I think I’m eating people, you know anyone that’s gone missing lately?
When Lorenzo had started walking it was with the intention of going to practice, but his thoughts had fixated on the man from his dreams. A haunted glimpse of a reflection met his mind’s eye as he remembered the beast passing a window, shifting from what looked like a giant dog to a person. Red eyes and fangs, with blood dripping from his mouth. Enzo’s phone buzzed as his friend texted him he’d missed football entirely, and when he looked up he was in some neighborhood he’d never been in. It looked beaten down and rough, distantly he remembered his mom saying something about he shouldn’t come around here. Something about a bad element. It stunk too.
Lorenzo wasn’t sure how he’d ended up here, truthfully he hadn’t even realized that he’d been walking for over an hour, but when he looked around it became obvious he wasn’t alone.
