Does your job mostly consists of paperwork or anything else?
The paperwork is a very small portion of my responsibilities as my father's aide. Much of my time is spent in the field collecting souls.
Many assignments go one of three ways:
The individual died unknown and unable to move on. We try our best to recover any personal details and affects. Too many unnamed souls litter our records; aside from being a security risk, it also often means the soul is unable to firmly enter and remain in the Underworld.
The individual died in a violent manner. These tend to be the most sudden and combative assignments due to the Keres, spirits who are also meant to escort these souls. However, violence has consumed the essence of their beings, and they take to devouring instead. We prefer that the Keres do not do that, and I'm sure the dead persons we collect do too.
The individual has expected death for quite a while now and welcomes us with open arms. The least of courtesies that we can afford them is companionship and peace before they are collected.
For the remaining other assignments... There will always be beings who think they can escape death, whether by some occult means, outright cheating my father like Sisyphus, or simply through mortal science and technology.
We have no mercy for them.
All things considered, perhaps my father mandates my paperwork days to keep me sane.
