Sungchan’s apartment reminded you of the first apartment you had when you moved to the city. Except, he shared it with two boys instead of two other aspiring actresses.
You met Shotaro first. He was a fashion student at the Fashion Institute and immediately started asking if he could dig through your closet.
"Taro!" Sungchan hissed, despite you laughing.
"So, fun fact, I actually don't own the clothes I wear on sets or red carpets," you explained. You had come up to Sungchan's because he wanted to show you his music collection. Since you wrapped the movie you and Sungchan met on, you were on a small break as your agent worked out a deal to get you writing on a small limited drama series.
"Wow," Shotaro seemed surprised and he slumped into the couch. The living room was comprised of a small coffee table that was overflowing with stacks of unopened mail, newspaper, and magazines. The couch was hardly enough to have two people fit comfortably, and the mental image of Shotaro and Sungchan and their third roommate squeezing on there made you chuckle.
Sungchan took your hand and took you into his room. It was immediately evident that he was the neat one of the trio. The room was tidy, every corner being used as effectively as possible. The albums were in organized crates under his bed. You sat crossed legged on the carpet with him as you looked it all over.
"Oh, gosh I loved this album! We played it on the set of Family Times all the time," you gushed, lightly shoving his arm.
"Are you the reason he guest starred on an episode?"
"Maaaaaybe," you teased.
The two of you ended up putting on an album he picked and were in a pretty intense make out session. Sungchan had you propped up on his lap, his hands firmly planted on your waist when his door burst open. That was how you met Anton.
"Dude, do you- oh my god!" Anton froze at the door as you jumped off Sungchan like a teenager who had been caught.
"Dude, get out!" Sungchan tossed a nearby pillow at his roommate who caught it, still frozen and staring at you.
"I-I honestly thought you were lying," Anton admitted, his eyes still bugging out.
"Can you close the door?" you awkwardly asked. Anton blinked and realized fully the situation he was in, a sharp red blush emanating from his ears and his cheeks.
"Sorry!" he jumped, slamming the door and putting you and Sungchan alone again.
The second time around, you had invited Sungchan and his roommates to your place.
You hadn’t dated a whole lot with work taking up so much of your life, and when you did try dating, it usually ended extremely quickly. With Sungchan, though, you really wanted it to work. He was so encouraging and understanding. He was so fun to talk to and seemed to know exactly how to make you laugh. You felt safe with him. So, you wanted to be sure that his friends liked you, too.
Sungchan was still in his work uniform when the three of them showed up at your front door. He had come straight from a show set he was hired for and picked up his roommates on the way.
“Sungchan, why would you ever bring her to our place when hers looks like this?” Anton voiced.
“There’s nothing wrong with your place,” you spoke, guiding them to the kitchen. You cooked dinner and set it up for you all to eat at the kitchen island.
“Dude, we don’t even have closets,” Shotaro argued between bites of the food, “did your cook make this?”
“I don’t have a cook.”
“So, you're a famous actress that owns her own place and can cook?" Anton listed before looking over at Sungchan, "why haven't you proposed?"
"Oh my god," Sungchan sighed, covering his eyes in embarrassment.
You guys ended up playing a few board games, shouting and yelling at each other depending on what each game called for. You learned that the three met in college, and had stayed friends and roommates throughout the years. Sungchan had jumped between different majors before finally landing on Biology with a Pre-Med track. While Shotaro got a bachelors in business and was now going to the Fashion Institute for a second degree, Anton was currently getting his Masters in English Literature.
"Oh shoot, my agent is calling I'll be right back," you announced, stepping into the living room to take the call.
"Sungchan," whispered Shotaro to his friend. Sungchan turned his face to his friend, waiting for him to speak.
"She's really good for you."
"I think so, too. I was really nervous with her the first time but... I keep forgetting she's famous," Sungchan admitted. It had become so easy to talk to you the more you spoke. He loved hearing you talk about the latest book you were reading, or even when you were complaining about script errors. He thought it was so thoughtful that you cared to get to know his friends enough to cook for them and even scout out board games you thought they'd like.
"Oh dude, you're in love with her aren't you?" Anton teased, shoving Sungchan's arm.
"Dude, shut up," Sungchan argued, returning the punch, "she's just... really special to me."
"Has anyone here watched Peculiar Objects?" you were typing on your phone as you returned from your call, seemingly oblivious to the conversation that was being had.
"That mystery show? Yeah, it's good," Shotaro nodded, "why?"
"They asked me guest star on an episode. But, it looks like their set stylists are understaffed that week," you then met Shotaro's eye, "do you think you can come onto the set with me in three weeks?"
You came home late the night of working on Peculiar Objects. You were exhausted and stepped into your townhome and to your bedroom. You had given Sungchan a key to your place and expected to see him knocked out. Instead, you walked into see him only just now climbing into bed himself.
"You had a late night, too?"
"Yeah. There was a fire on a set," he yawned before adding, "everyone's okay, thankfully."You nodded and yawned in response.
He looked at you with concern before lifting the sheets and patting the bed next to him. You giggled excitedly, stripping out of you work clothes and climbing into bed, the two of you laying down and holding each other. He kissed the crown of your head, holding you tightly to your chest.
"Sungchan?"
"Hmm," he was quickly falling asleep, clearly exhausted.
"I... I love you," you finally let the words you had been feeling in your chest out. Sungchan readjusted himself so you guys could look each other in the eye.
"I love you too," he kissed your forehead, "I love you so much."
"Good," you pressed another small kiss against his lips, "now let's get to bed. I think we're both running on fumes."
"I love you," he repeated, both of you giggling as he pressed you tighter to him. Safe. You were safe and in love.
