NATASHA RYAN
1984-2024
Natasha Ryan, 40, was found deceased at the Rockhampton Golf Club on Sunday morning, 2 June 2024 by police who were responding to a welfare check. Her death isn’t being treated as suspicious.
Ryan is best known for disappearing at the age of 14, in QLD, Australia in 1998. The last person to see her was her mother who dropped her off at school. There was a search and her family believed the worst and held a memorial service for her in 2001.
Local murderer, Leonard Fraser, who was convicted of murdering numerous women (and one child), said he was responsible for Ryan’s death and drew a map where he left her. The police found the remains of his other victims but not Ryan. During his trial in 2003 Ryan was found alive.
Ryan, 14 moved in with her boyfriend Scott Black, 21; and neither of them told her family or the authorities where she was. Whenever he had any visitors, she would hide in his closet. During her disappearance she kept a scrapbook of newspaper clippings regarding her disappearance. A friend of Black contacted the authorities and told them she had been hiding inside home. When police went to his home, Black denied that Ryan was there. During a police search they found Ryan, 18, hiding inside a cupboard. Black was fined and spent time in prison.
Ryan’s parents were shocked and many locals felt resentful that they spent time as well as money to find her. In 2008, Black and Ryan were married and had kids.
