Lord Śiva Maheśwara as Naṭarāja Naṭeśwara

A magnificent ten-armed (daśabhuja) granite bas-relief of Lord Śiva as Naṭarāja Naṭeśwara, his vāhana Nandī at his feet, accompanied by fierce forms of Mahā-Kālī and Vīrabhadra. The styling is more austere, in having less lavish ornamentation, but heavy Pāla influence is clear.

Lord Śiva as Naṭarāja

Lord Śiva as Naṭarāja or Naṭeśwara, plaster images decorating the lintel above the entrance to the sanctum sanctorum. The demon of ignorance apasmāra is depicted as the dwarf like figure pinned under Śiva’s right foot. Flanked by consort Devī Pārvati and vāhana Nandī depicted seated playing the hand-drum mṛdanga.
