Creating that moody “Guess jeans” fashion look in the middle of the dessert. Knowing lighting is everything as a photographer. If you know how read a situation, know what light to use and why and have the right gear... you can literally shoot at anytime of the day and create a beautiful soft light effect. I hope you all enjoyed this little Laura Croft series i put together in this cave of wonders in the middle of the Vegas desert for @wppievents with the lovely miss @this.is.amara.music. It was a blast creating with virtually every style of lighting: emulating natural light, mixing light, diffusing light, creating our own atmosphere and painting the cave/ talent with cinematic style lighting and story to create the dramatic adventure images I’ve recently shared... so fun! Using some of that same lighting and incorporating a tighter shot, some visual story telling and a bit of acting to give a freeze frame feeling to the shot. “Not all those who wander are lost” -unknown ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• Some time our ambient light need a bit of help, and that’s where painting with light comes in. This Shot used several lights to get the effect you see here. An @godox_photo_equipment ad600 at the top of the cave using a blue gel at high power to give that stream of blue light coming from above, an 860ii shot upwards behind the model (bare bulb) to give some detail and contrast to the cave behind her, and an @stellaprolights 5000 using a frenzel lens to give the pop of light on the models face and using the rock adjacent as a bouncy to fill in the shadow side. On top of all that, i purposely used the torch smoke in the prior shot to give the atmospheric beams of light you see here for this one. In photography, nothing is by accident... hope you enjoyed this little break down and attention to detail.
