June and Nathaniel
Tortured artist? Irascible writer? Bitter misanthrope? Disillusioned Simerican? A severe case of resting bitch face?
...Or all of the above? ;) Nathaniel’s story coming soon to a screen near you!
I’m so sorry about that ridiculous intro, lol, but I’m nothing if not corny. XD But anyway, the main reason I’m posting him yet again is that I still need a few more sims for this challenge. I don’t mind making them myself, but if anyone is interested in creating an author to join Nathaniel at the writer’s retreat please contact me. I realize that I’ve been moving slower than a herd of turtles on this project, but after a year and a half the world I intend to play in is finally finished and ready to go and I’m eagerly anticipating getting his story started for real.
If you’d like more information about the challenge before deciding whether or not you’re interested, you can find the original post I made about it here. It’s a bit wordy, but my inbox is always open for questions and I promise I will do my best to respond in a timely manner. Thank you so much for your consideration! :)
Tansy Chronicles synopsis/introduction
After the tragic loss of someone she held dear, June Holmeswood desperately tries to keep a facade of normalcy, thinking it one of the only way not to crumble. Now back in school, she finds herself having to juggle classes, family, deteriorating friendships, her new tutoring gig... and the path of revenge she finds herself slowly walking down. The day she meets a certain troublemaker might turn out to be a blessing or a curse, for his situation may be more intertwined with hers than she first thought.

The hellscape of school is much better than the hellscape of home. That was one of Nathaniel Penrose's firmly held beliefs. At school, he's in control, he is confident, he's respected, sometimes even loved or feared. At home, things are much different. When the news of a tragedy strikes his school, he starts to fear that his homelife may impact his school one even more than before. But when he finally decides to swallow up his pride and ask for help, fate or some other cruel luck pushes him with someone who may or may not want his skin if they were to find out more.
Forever a work-in-progress. ^_^
One of the youngest and most commercially successful novelists in recent memory, Nathaniel Penrose wrote the first book in his blockbuster trilogy about the adventures of a runaway teenage boy while still a teenager himself. However, almost ten years have passed since he completed that series, and to the dismay of his fans he has yet to release any new material. To curb the gossip and keep his public- and publishers- happy, Nathaniel promised to finish a new novel by the end of the year. But between the pressure of the looming deadline and a pronounced lack of inspiration, he is struggling to even come up with a preliminary idea, let alone a rough draft, and as the summer winds to a close he knows that something must change.
So in order to curtail his decade long writer’s block, Nathan applied for an eight week residency at the MacKendrick Colony, a secluded artist’s retreat in the northern woods of Sim Nation. He hopes that the change of pace and lack of distractions will help trigger his creativity, and perhaps by surrounding himself with kindred spirits he can rediscover his voice and make some headway on his book.
I am starting a new challenge, the “Live-What-You-Write” Challenge on Mod the Sims (found here). I don’t intend to stick strictly to the rules; rather, it will be a mixture of autonomous and non-autonomous gameplay and a semi-plotted story centered around Nathan’s eight weeks in residence at this retreat.
But he needs companions! Other creative types who will join him during his time at the colony. I fully intend to play them all at some point, probably in rotation with the exception of Nathan who will be under my control 24/7, but it is a story first and foremost (i.e. with poses and plot lines and the like). I am perfectly happy to make the other characters myself, but would anyone be interested in creating a sim for this? I want to have a group of between five and eight writers (including Nathaniel) who will make up the active household, but other artistic sims (photographers, painters, sculptors, architects, inventors, musicians, and so on) would be welcome to “join” the colony as townies.
If you would like to send someone to participate, please message me! :) At a minimum, I need four other writers. However, if I don’t get that many interested people I will make the rest of the sims myself. If I get more than seven, I will randomize it, giving those who don’t win (so to speak) the option of sending a different type of artist instead. Also, I should add that anyone who sends me a writer will need to select a genre for their sim to focus on from this list of the ones available in game. I don’t want overlap, so I may ask that you choose another one if someone has already selected your first choice.
I’m going to reblog this post a couple of times, so I apologize in advance for any annoyance. :)

I tweaked this sim, and I think I actually like him now. :D I sorta really want to do something with him, but he’s a total blank slate in terms of character and bio. Haven’t even named him yet. Plus I don’t need more projects. :P But I am sorely, sorely tempted. If only I had an idea... And, y’know, twelve or so more hours in a day. :D
