On Elections 2016

Now that the national elections are only weeks away, it is our responsibility as citizens of this country to be critical in choosing the leader to whom we will entrust our future. It would be better if we would set aside our biases for a while, do even a little research on EACH candidate's background, his/her platforms and their feasibility, and what he/she had already done regardless of whether it was good or not. Yes, everything MUST be taken into account. 

Be critical. Do not simply shrug it off whenever the candidate of your choice does or says something wrong just for the main reason that "you like his/her genuineness", "he/she has done other good things", or alike. Do not treat the elections as if we would just be voting for a new Pinoy Big Brother big winner because this isn't a reality show -- just "reality". Instead, treat the whole thing like a job interview with you as the interviewer and the candidates as applicants. Take note of all the positive, but take note of their mistakes and all the negative as well, especially in the context of the Filipinos' welfare. Because it is only then that we will be able to weigh the pros and cons of each and hopefully, end up choosing the BEST of them all. 

I am not pertaining to any certain crowd of supporters. This applies to all.

I just hope that this time, we do not wind up electing a person whom we will overthrow -- if it ever succeeds -- or at least to whom we will feel the need to do such after a year or so. It will be six years of our lifetime, countrymen. This could be cliched already but let us do our part well and VOTE WISELY. As the famous line goes, "May the odds be ever in OUR favor."
