Today, 16th of November, is celebrated the National Day of the Sea in Portugal, which was inaugurated at the "United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea" in 1994. The main objective is to raise awareness of the importance of the sea for the economy and for national development level as it offers many jobs and represents a significant part of the annual wealth. Portugal is considered a rich country in traditions and is marked for posterity as the country of maritime discoveries.
Hoje, dia 16 de Novembro, celebra-se o Dia Nacional do Mar que foi inaugurado na “Conveção das Nações Unidas sobre o Direito do Mar” em 1994. Tem como principal objetivo sensibilizar para a importância do mar para a economia e para o desenvolvimento nacional, uma vez que oferece muitos postos de trabalho e representa uma parte significativa da riqueza anual. Portugal é considerado um país rico em tradições e ficará marcado para a posterioridade como o país dos Descobrimentos Marítimos.
