Dream Catcher Review
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I bought this dream catcher a little bit on a whim last month. I don’t have nightmares SUPER often, but when I do they’re the realistic, did-that-actually-happen? kind that follow you around nagging for days. Mine usually involve a particular family member dying, repeatedly. Not fun, or joyful, or productive :/ I’ve wanted a dream catcher to help for a while, but also wanted to support a native artist and never could find the money to. So when my deposit came in the mail from my old apartment, it was a pleasant surprise, and perfect timing!
I’m so obsessed with everything about my catcher from MavericGifts on Etsy. To start, it looks amazing - white pearl beads on the web, glass crow beads on the feathers, which are real turkey feathers, hand-cut leather, and - my favorite part - a painted iron horseshoe instead of the traditional loop because, in the creator’s own words, “the horseshoe is a symbol of good luck with the opening on top holding in the luck so it doesn't spill out.” As a witch, I also appreciate the protection an iron horseshoe on a lintel brings ;)
Notably, I haven’t had a nightmare since bringing this into my house, despite circumstances being ripe for one due to a combination of scary situations for the family member in question and it being my own Dreaming Time. So in addition to being gorgeous, it’s also effective!
The creator offers so many cool designs, and you can customize them by up to two colors. I’m particularly in love with her antler dream catchers! I definitely recommend checking out the shop if you’re interested in any sort of native-made item - it stocks not only dream catchers, but jewelry, pouches, tomahawks, and more.
