Golden Amaranth was gathered in 1978 in a door-yard garden near Rinconada, New Mexico by Native Seeds/SEARCH and I received seed from Miguel Santisteven (my friend Margarita Garcia's husband) when I was visiting them in Toas a few years back. We wanted to see how it would adapt to Philly. It is gorgeous and produces edible golden seeds. It is also a great distraction for cucumber beetles, and along with these fourteen-foot tall Transylvanian sunflowers from @erc.bdz, it makes a beautiful backdrop to the seed garden. #goldenamaranth #amaranthushypochondriacus #nativeseedsearch #transylvaniangiantsunflower (at Delaware County, Pennsylvania)
