Why were rights of anti-NATO protestors violated by Chicago P.D.?
This is video of four Chicago cops interrogating the political activies a few men who were stopped for turning into a driveway to turn around. Yes, they were stopped for that. Since these men were later arrested for alleged terrorism in a raid with a warrant not even signed by a judge, this seems like too much of a coincidence. The police suspected right away that these men were about to utilize their free speech rights during the anti-NATO protest in Chicago.
So, it might even be likely that police were following them and waiting for the smallest of pretenses to pull them over and question them about their political actitivies. Somehow, I don't think Chicago P.D. commonly stop people for turning around in driveways. Heck, it's not even a crime or offense, that I could find.
So, like police throughout the country, they use the smallest of reasons to stop someone. The police searched the vehicle, for something that is even less than a traffic offense. Total lack of probable cause. Total violation of the 4th Amendment but I guess when you are a cop, the 4th Amendment is only voluntary.
Indeed, one of Chicago's finest, tried to see if a covering one's face charge was still on the books, to charge one of them. He must never have experienced a winter wind in Chicago.
In what shouldn't be that amazing, Garry F. McCarthy, Superintendent of Police for Chicago, stated that the police were courterous and professional. One of the cops during this stop had said about 1968 Chicago convention protestors, "a billy club to the f.cking head", implying violence against the protestors during the later NATO rally. I am sure if one of the stopped individuals had said something to the cops like that, they would have already been arrested right away.
If conduct such as this stop can be executed away by the head of the CPD, then we citizens really have police forces that don't work for us, but themselves.
Chicago P.D. draws guns on journalists in order to erase cell phone video
This is disturbing story out of Chicago. It seems a number of young journalists covering the anti-NATO protests in Chicago were targeted for harassment by the Chicago Police Department. Batteries and external hard drives of theirs were smashed and the cell phone of one individual was taken, and much of what he had recorded was deleted. The excuse the cops gave to the individuals, was that their car had matched another car.
I hope whatever the people in that supposed other car had done was pretty bad, because these journalists had guns drawn on them during the stop. A fellow journalist, Mike Paczesny, who works with one of those stopped, Luke Rudkowski, was questioned earlier in the day about Rudkowski by the police. Maybe this was because Rudowski had asked the police superindendent of the city if the police was putting in agent provocateurs at the protests.
A woman who was renting the apartment where the individuals had stayed, said that police had gathered outside of the residence and were not allowing people into it. So, the odds that this was just the stop of a wrong car, are absolutely nill. The police targeted this car and made an excuse that they were going after other individuals.
They drew guns on these journalists in an effort, it seems, to illegally erase video and destroy equipment. Makes you wonder what was on the video, doesn't it? Frankly, I don't see one reason why all these cops shouldn't be immediately fired, along with those who ordered the illegal detention. Of course, that will not happen. They will probably be given medals.
If anybody here is interested in seeing the type of violence I experience at the NATO protests, watch this video.
My name is Vince Emanuele, and I served with the United States Marine Corps. First and foremost, this is for the people of Iraq and Afghanistan. Second of all, this is for our real forefathers. I’m talking about the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee. I’m talking about the Black Panthers. I’m talking about the civil rights movement. I’m talking about unions. I’m talking about our socialist brothers and sisters, our communist brothers and sisters, our anarchist brothers and sisters, and our ecology brothers and sisters. That’s who our real forefathers are. And lastly—and lastly and most importantly, our enemies are not 7,000 miles from home. They sit in boardrooms. They are CEOs. They are bankers. They are hedge fund managers. They do not live 7,000 miles from home. Our enemies are right here, and we look at them every day. They are not the men and women who are standing on this police line. They are the millionaires and billionaires who control this planet, and we’ve had enough of it. So they can take their medals back.
ONTD_Political - US Veterans Return their medals to NATO
CHICAGO — Thousands of protesters marched through downtown Chicago on Sunday in one of the city’s largest demonstrations in years, airing grievances about war, climate change and a wide range of other complaints as world leaders assembled for a NATO summit.
Three men charged with conspiring to commit domestic terrorism during the NATO summit.
Within minutes of the march, live streams of the event began popping up all over the internet and anyone with a basic internet connection could witness numerous arrests of non-violent protestors and independent journalists, in what appeared to be the first large-scale implementation of the Federal Restricted Buildings and Grounds Improvement Act of 2011 (H.R. 347). Even before today’s protests began, federal agents are reported to have made arrests that thwarted supposed ‘terrorist plots’ targeted at the summit and President Obama, however in what is becoming a common trend these days, the plots involved undercover federal agents that supplied the explosive devices – leaving some to question whether or not these plans would have ever been carried out in the first place.
Perhaps one of the most shocking (amazing) details from today’s protest were the actions, or inaction’s, of some of Chicago’s finest. In a surprising turn of events, reports have emerged that numerous Chicago Police officers openly refused to arrest non-violent protesters – some officers even refusing to show up for work. I had the honor of speaking with one of these brave men, and although he wishes to remain anonymous (for obvious reasons), he wasn’t shy about how he and many other officers feel in regards to the ever-increasing police state.
It’s just not right, ya know? I mean… uh… a lot of people think that every guy with a badge and a gun has a thing for lockin’ people up. But that really ain’t the case most of the time… I became an officer to help people, ya know? I didn’t sign up to throw kids in jail for taking pictures on their phones.. and I certainly didn’t sign up to.. uh… arrest war veterans exercising their right to protest… I mean, this is still America right?
Before our conversation was cut short, I asked the officer if he agreed with some of the grievances held by the protesters to which he replied:
I don’t think that is the point, really. I mean, people are always going to disagree… but its whether or not they can go out there and be vocal about however they feel.
