a short bob of blonde hair was running around, laughter spilling past her lips as she looked behind her. she could see her mom’s bobbing head moving through the crowd. laughter spilled past her lips and she turned to take off again. but she collided with a stranger’s leg. light blue eyes stared up at the woman, her eyes widening and swallowing slightly. her mom told her to never talk to strangers, but she was supposed to apologize for bumping into her, right?
❛ i-i’m sorry. ❜
it had started off as simple game of tag in the play area of the park. but sam had taken off and moved farther away from the blonde. the hair stylist moved as fast as she could -- at least she was wearing tennis shoes, which were really the only pair of shoes that she owned. she was calling her name, scared that she might lose her in the crowd. central park wasn’t normally this busy, but of course the moment she decided to run off course, that was the day that everyone wanted to do. but she definitely wasn’t as fit as she was before. her lungs were burning, trying to catch up to the six year old.
❛ sam! get back over here! ❜
she was gasping for air when she finally caught up to her, her fingers moving to grab onto the young girls shoulders before crouched down. her eyes flicked over her daughter’s face, fingers moving through her blonde hair and brushing her smooth fingers against her cheek.
❛ don’t you ever run off like that again, even if we are playing tag. got it? ❜
she pressed a soft kiss to her forehead before she scooped up the girl and settled her on her hip. she flicked her hair from her forehead, and adjusted herself, still not looking at the woman who she had bumped into.
❛ i’m sorry. she has a habit of not looking where she’s going -- i really hope she apologized to you -- ❜
her eyebrows shot up when her eyes focused on the other woman’s face. the face that was far too familiar. her arms tightened around the girl in her arms.
❛ gabriella ? ❜
