The energy in the air electrified him, giving him a sense of power. He always felt this way with his heavy leather jacket sitting on his shoulders, like a suit of armour and mask against the world. He could be another strong link in the chain that connected him and all of his family, the ones that lived a life of poverty and abandonment, yet managed to turn that into loyalty. So he walked through life with a sense of accomplishment, not because he had the approval of everyone around him, but instead the knowledge that he had made something for himself. He learned how to walk while the north side of this town turned their backs.
Jug’s cigarette butt was purposely set into the cigarette stand that Pop had outside of his diner, a show of respect that Jug didn’t often save for this side of the tracks, before heading inside. He was sure the citizens of Riverdale thought him pompous and arrogant, especially the way he would walk into Pop’s as if he owned the place. Little did they know he used to call this place home as night after night he’d occupy a booth to sleep in — but he knew all too well that territory didn’t make him an owner. Not on this side of town, at least.
❛ Hey Pop, three cheeseburgers, fries & chocolate shakes to the boys ? ❜ he asked, leaning against the bar top now, his usual order. Then he turned to look back out over the crowd, noticing a raven haired girl, the air about her the complete opposite of his, and raised a challenging eyebrow. He always did this when he was attracted to someone.
❛ Want a top up on your shake there ? ❜
