i'm so plagued by auguste's death because while i have read many many many wonderful fics varying from canon compliant to alternate reality to alternative universe, there's this one spot that seems unattainable which is an auguste lives story where laurent is still the person he is in canon, because while a lot of him is due to his uncle you know that fundamentally all of that came to be because he lost his favorite person as a prepubescent and we'd have a very different laurent if auguste was alive and i absolutely love that but i crave so dearly that sweet spot in the middle
