He turned and lookedback at Mei, who was grinning as he leaned against their car. “Don’t blame me,”the fake innocence pushed Kazuya’s buttons. “You’re the one that lost the bet,Kaz.”
“This isn’t even much ofa loss for me,” he grumbled as he turned away. A cool summer breeze kissed hisface as he crossed his arms.
Kazuya heard the gravelcrunching beneath Mei’s feet as he walked closer to him. “Then what’s takingyou so long?” Mei’s cheery voice touched his ears, making him clench his jaw.When Kazuya still didn’t speak, Mei pushed him a little more. “I don’t hearanything.”
He made the mistake oflooking over to see that shit eating grin on Mei’s face. His mood soured evenfurther and he pouted a bit. “Why don’t you pick something better? This seemsquite childish.”
A sharp laugh eruptedfrom Mei’s throat as he leaned on the wooden fence overlooking the valley,putting him in Kazuya’s peripheral vision. “Oh, I like this just fine.” He knewMei was still grinning by the flash of white that he dared not look atdirectly. “So, come on, say it.”
Rolling his eyes, Kazuyashifted from foot to foot. He glanced at Mei to see him waiting patiently, andhe knew he wasn’t going to get out of this. Glaring out at the mountains, hepursed his lips. “I love… Narumiya Mei…” He mumbled.
“No, no,” Mei slid alittle closer. “That’s not what the bet was. If I won, you had to say it loud.”He nudged Kazuya’s leg with his foot. “Come on, do it properly this time.”
“I love Narumiya Mei,”he said at a normal level.
“Not good enough,Kazuya,” Mei singsonged a little. “Listen, I could have made you do this infront of thousands of people.”
Knowing Mei was tellingthe truth, he took a deep breath. “I LOVE NARUMIYA MEI!” He shouted, his voicecracking just slightly at the volume of it.
Mei laughed heartily.“See? Not so bad, right?” He draped an arm around Kazuya’s shoulders and pulledhim down some.
Face flushed inembarrassment, Kazuya mumbled, “Speak for yourself.”
