PBB Desak Australia Tutup Kamp Nauru

Jayapura, Jubi – Komisi Tinggi bidang Hak Asasi Manusia di Perserikatan Bangsa-bangsa mendesak agar Australia segera mengakhiri penahanan anak-anak pengungsi di kamp Nauru.

Desakan PBB itu muncul menyusul beredarnya lebih dari 2.000 dokumen yang membuktikan adanya tindakan penyiksaan terhadap pengungsi, termasuk anak-anak di kamp pengungsian Nauru.

Australian Government, you did what to refugee children?  I...I don’t even know how an individual human being is supposed to respond to this.

Guardian Australia have released approximately 2000 incident reports from Nauru - the Australian government’s dumping ground for refugees. Detailing self harm, suicide attempts, sexual abuse, assault, among many other distressing incidents. Many involving children.

“The devastating trauma and abuse inflicted on children held by Australia in offshore detention has been laid bare in the largest cache of leaked documents released from inside its immigration regime.”

“The Nauru files set out as never before the assaults, sexual abuse, self-harm attempts, child abuse and living conditions endured by asylum seekers held by the Australian government, painting a picture of routine dysfunction and cruelty.”
