sweet burgundy boy
today i put on a red dress and red lipstick and went out with my sister to take my senior picture at barnes and noble and this really beautiful sort of a boy employee there kept following us around! it made me strangely happy in a crazy sort of a way because i was carrying around my camera and tripod all across the store looking for a secluded spot, and this boy, this boy with piercing brown eyes and a burgundy sweater and the most beautiful brown hair kept trying casually do calculations or help customers near us
and i thought he was just working his job and not paying attention to us, but then when we came back from the bathroom and had found a good spot, i saw him at the customer service desk and he whipped around when he saw us, and a few minutes later, once we’d reached the spot and i started striking poses, i saw him with a huge cart of books and his head peaking down the aisle??? oddly it made me feel less insecure about wearing a bright red dress in mid october. anyway i was very flattered and he had a small black pen behind his ear. i’m going to keep going to this specific BN because i’m pretty sure he was almost going to say something to us.
when we left, i pushed the door open and scanned the store one last time, hoping i could catch just one last fleeting glimpse of him, and he had returned to the customer service desk in the center of the store and looking very engaged, explaining something to a man across the desk. he seemed especially enthralled about whatever they were talking about because his arms were leaning across the service desk quite deeply and i thought it was a very sincere gesture.

i was thinking, kind of hoping the entire time he would come back and just stand there and refuse to move. i wonder what he is like as a human being
by the way, i used to mention this person at my school who was in my old math class and wore kitschy turtle necks and had a patchy beard and i called him nautical boy, and even have a tag nautical boy, but i think nautical boy went rogue because he always looks really high in the hallways and wears Birkenstocks with socks. no judgment but he looks actually quite unhappy in the hallways and i only hope he finds his way. he’s so bright and i remember so many kids calling him weird last year and its just such a waste to buy into those idiotic remarks. there’s no room for it, is what i mean to say.
