I'm psyched for a new game, Inscryption because of it's music
I've played Slay the Spire and Inscryption seems to have a similar progression system but with fundamentals of card-play that's like Gwent. Anyways here's a couple of songs from the upcoming game that's not on Spotify yet and my thoughts about them:
Imagine how weird it would be to be wandering through a forest and then suddenly you find This Guy and he's Just Selling Stuff. This song captures that feeling perfectly. This song sounds like the noises one makes while trying to make a decision: Humming, tapping on wood, idly strumming the same chords on an instrument over and over again. It's not too creepy, but listening to this song makes me think "there's no pressure right now, but if I choose poorly I could get eaten somewhere down the line."
This song is perfect for reading a character's exposition. It's like the guitar is talking to you about sad stuff while a cello buzzes around in another room and eavesdrop on both of you. And then at the 8:40 mark, that pan whistle chimes in like a howling wolf outside. And then it's just you and the low reverb of the cello and that sad distant flute. What happened to the guitarist?
Apparently the player must travel through several biomes in this game, one of which is a coast. So yes, this is the song that plays during the water level. And it's almost unlike the previous two songs which (I assume) take place in the woods. Here's a fun nautical fact: some buoys are meant to mark the location of hidden sand bars so that sailors don't run aground. Bells were attached to those buoys so that in thick fog sailors could hear it. Also, a ships navigator took depth readings by dropping a weighted line overboard, striking it, and then noting the time it took for the vibration to travel up and down the line. So if this song makes you uncomfortable, then you've got sailing in your blood. Finally, I've just realized that an Angler is the same as a Trapper and that this is a variation on the previous merchant theme. I love how it's more intense than the Trapper & Trader song, implying the consequences of making the wrong choice is far greater.
I painted those because a friend of mine wanted a ship... well, I might have overreacted...
Watercolors hey!
