Pairs Well With…Wavves, FIDLAR, Beach Fossils
Fuzzed-out guitar rock intersects breezy, melancholy pop on Navy Gangs’ debut EP, a four song collection that sounds interestingly effortless. While feedback is turned up high on Navy Gangs’ riffs, they widen with psychedelic meaning instead of pounding effusively. It’s what punchy sounds like wrapped in a comfy blanket. Utilizing two vocalists, the NYC-based newcomers blend comfortably, taking all of these instincts and applying them to a 90s alt rock canvas. Through that fuzz are secretly catchy hooks - Navy Gangs’ songwriting sounds natural, fining room for lyricism within a sea of garage rock sounds.
