Room for Ruby Reaction
*Spoilers for Room for Ruby!* This episode is interesting in that I'm still uncertain as to what exactly happened, but in a somewhat good way. The reason I say that is that it's rather ambiguous how much of Navy's behavior was a facade and how much was genuine, and there's evidence for it both ways. Did she genuinely want to stay on Earth and only decide to go back to her old ways when she found out she had options? Or did she genuinely know they had her ship the entire time and pretend she didn't to manipulate them into it? The evidence for the former is how she behaved for most of the episode, but the evidence for the later is the fact we never SAW any mistreatment of her by the other Rubies as she told Steven and her explicitly mentioning her ship to Steven while they were trying to comfort her lends towards the latter. That and the Gems hit the Rubies WHILE heading to the Zoo, so she could've noticed there. Was she lying about loving Earth? Or did she genuinely love the Earth and Homeworld's indoctrination still in her head and clicked when she realized she could get on her ship and leave? And I rather like that factor about this episode, that there's evidence for many interpretations here that aren't exactly contradicted. Yes, Navy seems a bit gleefully sadistic at the end, but we've seen the effects the indoctrination Gems are put through can have on them. All it really implied to me was she's not exactly sane.
