If you’re willing to share, I’d love to hear your thoughts about nb or masc JJ. I have many hcs about it but I rarely see others have them!

Yeah! I def could see JJ being NB, or butch if not. She really pushes against the traditional feminine roles of wife and mother (she doesn't marry Will for seven years!). I think, if the show had allowed, she would have had shorter hair by the end. I know AJ wanted to cut it.

I think it's interesting to see how JJ was as a child and the difference in her now. She was really feminine, with long hair, nightgowns and dresses, and a sport like equestrian, which is traditionally a "female" sport. As an adult, she focuses a lot on strength (did you SEE her biceps in CME???) and she cares a lot more about being "agent" than "mrs".

I think she'd be nb in the way that gender really doesn't matter to her and she's a whole person before she's a woman. It's also interesting that she starts the show in business sets and pencil skirts and heels, but trades that in for suits and leather jackets and pants and boots. She starts tying her hair back a lot, exercising, getting just... harder? all around. She's best friends with Derek, a paragon of masculinity, and can definitely hang with the boys haha

I think she just sheds her femininity and just fully realizes herself as a human and understands that she doesn't have to be a woman to be herself.

Emily and JJ having a lazy day lounging on their couch. Emily ruffling and scratching JJ's freshly cut short hair.

omg I bet Emily loves JJ's short hair. I bet she likes to put gel in it when they're getting ready in the morning. She always spikes their hair up as a joke and then actually puts it together. JJ always threatens to shave their whole head, but Emily says that's a hard no lmao

obviously if JJ really wants that, Emily wouldn't complain, but she knows JJ loves her 90s boy band hair too much to actually cut it off.
