Just finished my reward.....
Yup I finally ordered from Sophie's Cuban, roast port, yellow rice and black beans and their home made lemonade! I walked by the restaurant right after my run but they weren't open yet :( so I ate at home. It was everything I remembered and more. Tiday was a dress rehearsal for the Half, carbs last night, gels ans water plan. To earn that big meal I ran my last long run before the half, 12 miles, 1:46:55 a 8:55 pace. It was right on where I wanted to be. My route was supposed to take me from downtown Brooklyn up to the queemsboro bridge down 1st Ave over the Brooklyn Bridge and back to the gym, you know what They say about the best plans, be ready to adjust. Within a mile or so I found myself on the NYC Marathon Route in Brooklyn, wow this could be fun for a while, nice tree lned street, some rolling mini hills, suddenly there were runners in groups running the same route. At Least 3 or 4 different groups running 8:00 to 8:30 paces, I know I was moving at around 8:30-8:45, all fun to be running with all these groups, from North Brooklyn Road Runners club and the Dashing Whippets. They were do their last long run before the marathon. And they had members in vans supplying water and stuff. Nice. I even got offered water. So thanks to the NBRR club, of course once I did the right thing and put my cup in the trash as quick as they showed up they were gone. I must have missed them turning damn. Well my route was changed, and I wasn't going to be running 16+ so made my way to the river and back to the gym. 12 miles strong, let the tapering begin!
