anyway i'm so glad "secondo coro delle lavandaie" (second chorus of the washerwomen) from the musical la gatta cenerentola (the cat cinderella); written by roberto de simone; is getting more global recognition thanks to the hbo show the new pope. that song is a major bop and it takes me back to senior year when i sang that song all the time.

in the musical, it's one of the songs in act 3, and one of the washerwomen (played by isa danieli) sings about having a dream involving the king of the palace that turned out to be a wet dream, and during "the best part of the dream", her mom wakes her up so she just starts insulting her mom. she's backed up by cinderella (played by fausta vetere; member of the folk band nuova compagnia di canto popolare since 1970) and the rest of the washerwomen (one of them is antonella morea, who currently plays the mom in the "casa surace" series on youtube)

i shared video footage of this original cast singing it because it probably wasn't on tumblr and the live version is even more mindblowing.

there were also several revivals of that musical and here's a clip of the 1999 cast singing the same song. though most of the members returned for the 1986 revival - including fausta, giovanni mauriello (member of the nccp group from the late 60s - before they recorded an album - to the 90s), and isa, the only members to return for the 1999 version were antonella and giovanni.

Let's be honest about the facts. If we can be honest about the facts, we can get serious about the solutions. 

The argument I have been hearing lately through the trenches of the internet is not really a new craze, but nonetheless, still considered a “hot topic.”

Much of this topic is allegedly based on “Poverty” or “environment.” So, being the over achieving go-hard that I am, I did a little digging. I found the source and quote above, now I only have one question.

If predominantly White children are in poverty, what does that say about race and IQ? Do these children have drastically high IQ ‘s even though they live in destitute environments?

While the figures indicate that indeed more white children are poor, they also show, however, that higher percentages of minorities live in poor families:

10% of white children (4.2 million). In the 10 most populated states, rates of child poverty among white children range from 7% in Texas to 12% in Michigan.

27% of Latino children (4 million). In the 10 most populated states, rates of child poverty among Latino children range from 19% in Florida to 35% in Pennsylvania.

33% of black children (3.6 million). In the 10 most populated states, rates of child poverty among black children range from 29% in California and Florida to 47% in Ohio.

12% of Asian children (400,000) and 40% of American Indian (200,000) Comparable state comparisons are not possible due to small sample sizes.

Ecche qua, l'ho preso 'O Sud (è fesso), l'ultimo album di Patrizio Trampetti prodotto, arrangiato e missato da Jennà Romano (che è anche autore di quasi tutte le musiche e coautore dei testi, salvo un brano che si deve a Filippo "il Buono" Piccirillo).

Dai pezzi che ho avuto modo di ascoltare in anteprima so già che si tratta di un bel lavoro.

E costa solo 5 euro e 90. Lo trovate per una quarantina di giorni nelle edicole in cui un tempo si vendevano i giornali.
