दो ध्रुवीय विश्व

द्वितीय विश्वयुद्ध वर्ष 1939 -1945 तक चला और अमेरिका द्वारा जापान के दो शहर हिरोशिमा और नागासाकी पर परमाणु बम गिराने के साथ ही द्वितीय विश्वयुद्ध समाप्त हो गया। लेकिन विश्व में कई देशों के मध्य आपसी रक्त -रंजित एवं प्रतिद्वंदिता समाप्त नहीं हुई थीं।

सम्पूर्ण विश्व पर अपना प्रभाव बढ़ाने हेतु और स्वयं को एक शक्तिशाली राष्ट्र दिखाने के लिए अमेरिका ने जापान पर परमाणु बेम गिराये सोवियत संघ ने भी खुद को एक महाशक्तिशाली एवं महाशक्ति घोषित करने के लिए सैन्य शक्ति एवं परमाणु हथियारों का विकास करना प्रारम्भ कर दिया। अब अमेरिका और सोवियत संघ ही ऐसे दो देश बचे थे जो किसी भी देश को आर्थिक , राजनितिक तथा सैन्य शक्ति के आधार पर मात दे सकते थें।

 इन  दो देशों के बराबर न ही तो कोई विकसित था और न ही इसके गुटों से कोई युद्ध कर सकता था और इस प्रकार पूरा विश्व अमेरिका और सोवियत संघ दो गुटों में बंट गया इसे ही दो ध्रुवीयता का आरम्भ कहा जाता हैं।
