Valentine's day wasn't your most favourite of holidays, in fact, you used to dislike it all together until it rolled around two years ago and that was your first date of many with a certain Senior Agent. It got brighter each year and it seemed this year was no different when you walked into work that morning.
On your desk stood a wonderful bouquet arrangement of flowers. The card had a simple love heart scrawled on it. At first, you thought of Pride straight away, after all, why wouldn't your boyfriend get you a nice selection of flowers, but when he was just as intrigued as you, you thought that maybe LaSalle or Patton had done it as a nice gesture. Paying no mind and brushing it off as a joke you went about your work with the team.
That was until a week later a box of chocolates were on your chair at work, after an inside joke between LaSalle and yourself on what chocolate was Pride's favourite, it made you think it was LaSalle again. It wasn't. By now you were starting to get a little worried, who was sending you these gifts?
You arrived back to your cute little home that LaSalle had helped you find when you moved out here to New Orleans. Closing the door of your car that was parked in the small driveway you walked over to your stoop only to freeze on the second step. You hand immediately went to the weapon on your hip and pulled it from its holster. There was a single red rose right on the 'welcome' mat in front of your door.
You walk up a couple of steps and notice that nothing is untoward with your door but keep your weapon unholstered as you unlocked the front door. After you clear your home you pick the rose up, inspecting it closely before looking out into the darkened street, you felt like you were being watched - and you were, it was only there for a moment before you blinked and it was gone, a silhouette under a street light.
It was two weeks later and everything had gone back to normal. Nothing else had popped up at your desk or on your front door step but that didn't stop you from looking over your shoulder every now and then. Pride had noticed a change in you, not a big one, but noticeable. You were just getting back from doing some grocery shopping and you were about to kick the door closed behind you when you were grabbed from behind, the bags dropping from your arms in surprise.
Both of you struggled against one another, you felt an arm around your waist and one around your neck. You blindly reached for your weapon but whoever it was had a very solid grip. You threw back your elbow, hearing the assailant grunt only to be thrown against your wall. You spun around and a fist connected with your face with a crack and then a backhand from the other direction - stopping you in your tracks.
"Stop resisting, [Y/N]."
You froze, you knew that voice anywhere. It was the voice you hoped you never had to hear again but there he was, stood before you, the same look in his eyes when you walked out on him three years ago, "David." You panted, wiping the blood from your lip with the back of your hand, "What are-"
"-what am I doing here? I could ask you the same question. I've been looking for you all this time. Why did you leave? Do you know how angry that made me?" He asked, the rage in his voice coming to the forefront of his voice.
You stood and lunged for him, he was bigger and stronger than you but you had the advantage of fighting plenty of bigger suspects, you grappled his leg, taking a few more punches and hits to the head and back but once you'd wrenched his knee and ankle David crumbled onto your hallway floor. Scrambling up onto your knees your draw your weapon onto your ex and huff, "Stay down David. I'm warning you." You warned and moved to roll him onto his front, cuffing him from behind before you rang the first person on your speed dial.
"Pride?" You asked, your voice breaking immediately, a sob escaping from your lips and down the phone.
"[Y/N]?" He asked, sounding worried already, "Why are you cryin'?"
You explained the current situation to him over the phone and it wasn't long before there were tyres screeching to a halt outside along with sirens and another few police cars. After David was read his rights and the LEO's had taken him away you were sat with Pride on your stoop, a few sterile-strips over your eyebrow and an ice-pack on your lip.
"Why didn't ya tell me?" He asked after you had explained all about your crazy ex, his large hand rubbing your back gently.
You shrug, "I'm not sure, I thought it had stopped and then he attacked me from behind...at my own home." You voice wobbled again and you placed your forehead on the hand that wasn't holding the ice pack.
"Hey, stop, this wasn't your fault [Y/N]." Pride insisted in a soft but firm tone, his arm closing around you fully, "Ah'll always be there to protect you." He murmured quietly and kissed your hair, "Ah promise."
You lift your head, years leaking from your eyes and down your cheeks which he carefully wiped away with his thumb, "I'm sorry I dragged you into this." You replied glumly. You felt his finger under your chin and he gave you a smile which you returned.
"Ah don't think y'should be apologisin’ darlin'. Ah'm supposed to help you - it's mah job not just as your boss but as your boyfriend too." He kissed your cheek and let you rest against him, both of you basking in the sunset over New Orleans.

23. "What's cookin' good lookin'?"
It was your turn to host Pride for your little date night. Every week you would a night where one of you cooked for the other. Tonight was supposed to be your night but Pride insisted on cooking. You were in the middle of a case but still, you both managed to find the time to unwind a little.
You were just coming from your bedroom after having the most needed shower since you'd arrived in New Orleans five years ago. Still, you had no clue what Pride was cooking but you had left him to it, he said it helped him to think while cooking. Even though the agreement was no work talk on date nights, it didn't really count if whatever he was thinking about, wasn't spoken about, did it?
Tying up your robe you spotted him in your kitchen, back turned to the door you had full advantage of the view in front of you. Your eyes roamed his body freely, from the nap of his neck - which you had a thing for - all the way down to the backs of his thighs and his calves. Gorgeous, the whole lot.
"Ahm not a piece a'meat [Y/N]." He said to you, sensing someone behind him.
A giggle came from your lips and your bare feet took you from the doorway to stand behind him, "You're my piece of meat, King." You hummed and slipped your hands around his hips, settling them on his belt, "Mmm, smells good." You praised softly into his shoulder blade, "What's cookin' good lookin'?" You asked in an attempted southern accent.
A rumble of laughter came from Pride's chest, "Ah definitely don't sound like that." He assured but humoured you anyway, his southern accent becoming very defined, "Why it's just some of mah gumbo, Momma's recipe."
You chuckled into his back and patted his stomach, "It was a valiant attempt, no?"
"Not quite but ahm sure it'll get better with time."
You shrugged your shoulders and slipped under his free arm, "I think it's a good job you love me then - despite my terrible attempt at doing a southern accent."
“Ah love you f’who you are.” He murmured and pressed his lips to your hair and lifted the wooden spoon to your lips, “You like that?” He asked in a smirk when you hummed.
“Mmhmm, come on. Let’s eat.” You said and tapped his bum before getting plates out for the both of you. Date nights with Pride - whoever cooked - where always special.
