“You know that outfit looked really good on you[name].” “Oh…T-thank you, haha.” - Chris LaSalle x reader

You had just returned from an undercover operation, where you’d had to wear an outfit that you’d much rather forget about than have to wear again. It really hadn’t been something that you would normally wear but given you’d had to go undercover to a nightclub to find your suspect and drag him out you guess you had no choice but to wear the white batwing bodycon dress. Now back at the office and in your own clothes ready to write up your report your shocked at the words that leave your work partners lips

“Ya know that outfit looked really good on ya Y/N” he says, biting his lip subtly and you blush flustered. You’d had a crush on your partner for the last two years so hearing him say that was definitely not making this easier. So you decided to brush it off

“Oh… Th-thank you haha” you say, turning back to your computer. When you look up again you're shocked to see Chris standing right in front of your desk.

“Ah’d like ta take ya out on a date sometime Y/N, please?” he asks and you gasp

“I-uh, yes” you reply.

“How about tomorrow night then, Ah’ll pick ya up at 7.30” he says Alabama accent dripping as he makes his way back over to his desk and you nod

“S-sure, sounds good” you stutter.

The fish was a lot bigger than you or Chris expected.

He told you the fish in this lake weren’t very big. It’s been a while since you’ve done any fishing, and he figured he’d ease you back into it. Take you to a place where the fish are nice and small and practically fighting each other to get on the hook and you’d have some fun.

This one, though. This fish was probably eating all the other fish. It was gigantic, and Chris didn’t even take you seriously until he noticed the pole dipping down. He didn’t get up and make his way over until he saw you stumble forward.

“Don’t lose the pole!” He calls out with a smirk. He was joking.

He didn’t think you’d actually get pulled in when the fish yanks on the line a little harder.

Your scream is cut short when you disappear under the water, and Chris is sprinting to the end of the dock in a second. He stands over the lake, watching for a heartbeat as your arms flail around in a panic. When your head breaks the surface, you cry out his name before you go back under.

You don’t fish often because swimming isn’t exactly something you’re good at. Chris promised that swimming would only scare the fish away. How was he supposed to know you’d get pulled in?

Immediately, he slips out of his flip-flops and jumps into the water right beside you. And you heard his splash, because you’re instantly climbing onto him. Nearly dunking his head under the water, but Chris is a strong swimmer and he’s able to pull you securely into his arms. And once you’re clutching onto his shoulders, chest to chest, you finally stop flailing. You’re panting hard, hair soaked and flat, eyes wide with fear.

And you notice Chris is grinning.

“Are you...Chris, are you smiling? I could’ve died!”

He can’t help it. He snorts in amusement. “Sugarbelle, you wouldn’t have died.”

“How do you know? You also told me the fish here were tiny, and I was just pulled in by fucking Jaws! You know I can’t swim.”

His arms lower you down just a little. You tense up immediately, but Chris is still smiling. Still watching you with bright eyes. “Sugar, try standin’ up.”

You blink at him. Chris nods, and you straighten your legs out. Much to your surprise, your feet touch the sandy bottom of the lake. And by the time Chris lowered you down the whole way, the water was only up to your chest. Still too deep for comfort, but definitely not life-threatening.

He doesn’t say anything, though. Doesn’t tease you about it. Doesn’t even pull his arms away. And that does make you feel better, despite the embarrassment. “I lost your pole,” you tell him.

“‘S fine. You’re more important than a fishin’ pole.”

Autumn Rain (Dwayne Pride x Reader)

•• Hello all! This one's pretty short, but it's short and sweet 😉 I hope you all enjoy. ••

The forecast had only called for a 15% chance of rain when you read it on your phone that morning. So, you figured, oh I won't need my umbrella today. You leaned against the doorframe as you huffed, looking out into the street. It was down pouring. The rain was so loud crashing into the pavement that you didn't hear Dwayne come up behind you.

“(Y/n)?” He smiled. “Everything alright? I told you I'd meet you at the bar.”

“No, I'm fine.” You smiled, reassuring him. “It's just raining like hell, and I left my umbrella at home.” Dwayne nodded. He took a few steps past you, opening up his umbrella and turning back to you, offering you his other hand.

“Then I guess I'll have to carry it for the both of us. Come on.” He smiled ear to ear, and you couldn't help but smile too. Dwayne could always turn something gloomy, like a sudden rainstorm, into something cheerful with that smile of his. The way the corners of his eyes crinkled and the slight rosy tint of his cheeks was enough to make anybody swoon. In part, that's how you first fell for him after transferring to New Orleans from the northeast office. You grabbed his hand and held on tight as you both bolted down the street to where your cars were parked. Like a true gentleman, Dwayne helped you get into your car first before leaning into the car over you. He just kept staring and you chuckled.

“Is there something in my teeth?” He laughed.

“No, Darlin’. You just look so beautiful with the rain on your skin.”

“I wouldn't have rain on my skin if somebody knew how to hold their umbrella.” You chided. You noticed a few drops of rain on his forehead and reached up and brushed them with your thumb. “But, you don't look too bad yourself.” You planted a kiss on his nose and he leaned back.

“So, I'll meet you at the bar then?” You winked.

“I hope so. It won't be fun to drink all by myself.”

"I never loved you, let's get that perfectly clear."

"Stop lying!" he hissed, grabbing your arm in a tight grip, "I know you love me just like I love you, princess."

"Don't call me princess, asshole,'' you growled and tried to pull your arm from his grip but it was too strong. ''You need to let go of me because it won't end well for you."

"Oh yeah? What are you gonna do?" he asked getting in your face; his breath reeked of alcohol.

"She won't do anything," a deep drawl came from behind you both, "But ah will."

You turned your head to see Pride stood at the doorway of his bar, LaSalle behind him, both looking pretty pissed off.

"Who the hell are you?"

"Ah'm the person that's gonna put'chu on your ass if you don't leave Y/N here, alone." He warned, his eyes focused on the person holding your arm.

The man who still held your arm laughed, yanking you for good measure, "You ain't gonna do shit," he looked at you, "Is this the guy you left me for?"

"I didn't leave you for anyone, Darren, that was five years ago," you explained, knowing all too well how he got when he was drunk. "I left because all you cared about was drinking and getting your leg over with working girls."

"Ah'll give you to the count of five but my friend here ain't so patient," Pride told Darren, tilting his head towards LaSalle who looked like he was ready to pounce.

"Look at you two," Darren laughed, "I'll take both of ya!" He suddenly shouted, he let go of you and lurched forward towards Pride and LaSalle only to be sent back flying with a swift right hook to the jaw from Pride.

You glanced down at your ex before shifting your eyes to Pride, "Well... you did warn him."

"Christopher cuff that man for assaulting a federal agent," Pride told the younger agent before his eyes landed on you, a smirk tugging at his lips.

You were sitting in the hospital. How you ended up here, well in your eyes it came with the job. Being an NCIS Special Agent, meant that any point in time in your career you were going to take a bullet or get stabbed; hell even blown up. Anything was possible with NCIS. But that was something you liked about the job, it was never the same thing twice – unless it was a serial killer or something like that. You enjoyed the challenges that were set before you.

But the fact that you took a bullet didn’t sit well with one particular member of the team you were part of. Truth be told, he was rather upset with you about it. You didn’t understand why, and it seemed that you were going to have to put your interrogation skills to work to get the information of out the infamous Christopher LaSalle.

“How ya feelin’ Sugar Belle?” Chris asked, as he walked into the room; a cup of coffee in both hands.

You turned and gave him a smile as you worked on the last couple buttons on your shirt. Trying to do them up with one hand was a little difficult as your dominate hand was resting in the sling. The bullet you caught was in the shoulder. Sighing you shrugged with your good shoulder, “Wishing I had more than just a button up shirt in my go bag.” You laughed.

Christ walked over and placed the coffees down on the table and turned to you. It was apparent that you had caught his eyes, as he could see your black laced bra where the buttons were undone. He walked over and gave you a smile, “Ah think it looks good.”

“Uh-huh,” You replied, “Mind doing up the last couple buttons please?” You asked, looking up at him.

Chris nodded and closed the space between the two of you and started slowly doing up the buttons for you, “Ah wish you hadn’t ended up in here.” He muttered.

There it was, the start of the conversation you had been working towards. You wanted answers to why he was acting differently. “Chris,” You started as you cupped his cheek, “It happens, it’s part of the job.”

“Yeah, but you didn’t haveta take that bullet.” He sighed as he finished the last button on your shirt. He looked up into your eyes as he spoke softly, “It was meant for mah.”

Confession. There it was, out in the open. “Awe, Christ. Do you honestly think I was gonna let you take a bullet?” You asked and he ducked his head, “Chris – I care about you, I didn’t want to see you get hurt.”

He pulled you close to him as he wrapped his arms around you – careful of your shoulder. “Ah care ‘bout you too, Y/N.” He said lightly and kissed the crown of your head, “Ah actually more than care 'bout you. Ah love you.”

You pulled away shocked at his statement. This is more than you expected when you went on the hunt about why he was acting the way he had been. You almost couldn’t believe your ears. Looking up at him you blinked your eyes a couple time, “You love me?” You whispered.

He nodded his head, “Ah love you – ah-ah have for awhile now.”

“Why didn’t you say something?”

Rubbing the back of his neck he searched for the words. “Ah guess ah wasn’t sure how ya felt.”

You laughed and light smacked him on the chest, “I love you too, 'Bama.”

Angel

It had only been 3 months since Dwayne Pride and his wife had lost there unborn child. They both threw themselves into their cases. When Pride wasn’t working he was playing the piano. They rarely ever talked anymore. Everyone was worried about them.

One night while Pride played the piano, Cassandra sat on the bed. She started to cry. Pride heard his wife’s loud cries. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath. It killed him to know he couldn’t help her. He blamed himself for losing the baby while Cassandra blamed herself.

Pride realized that it had been long enough. He stood up from the piano and headed towards there room. He saw his wife laying in bed hugging a pillow crying.

“Cass? Darlin’? Talk to me what can I do to help you.”

“There’s nothing you can do, our babies gone” she said crying harder. Pride laid down next to her and wrapped her in a hug and let her cry into him.

They still had a long road ahead of them but at least they made progress.

Dwayne Pride and reader’s wedding day, and (the ex-boyfriend) mayor Hamilton clashes the wedding reception

Everything was going perfectly, you were stood between your close family and friends in an intimate ceremony in the bar when the doors slam open.

“I hope I’m not missing out on anything important here Dwayne” you hear the arrogant voice of Mayor Hamilton chorus as he makes his way over to you and your fiance.

“Ya weren’t invited Douglas, what the hell do ya think ya doin’ here?” your fiance asks, his jaw clenched in irritation at having been interrupted on such a special day. He shoots you an apologetic look and you give his hand a reassuring squeeze.

“I’m hurt Dwayne. But we had a promise. You had 72 hours to help solve the case and yet I find you here instead with these people” he casts a scowl over all of you and when his gaze lands on you he smirks

“You could’ve done better Dwayne, so much better” and that’s when you lose your cool. You punch him, not caring about the repercussions. His head snaps back as blood starts to trickle from his nose and you seeth as you say voice pitched slightly lower as you say

“You heard Dwayne, you weren’t invited Douglas. Our wedding has been planned for months and we weren’t going to put it off for you or anyone else. So you can either be civil and enjoy the vows and then fuck off out of my sight before the ceremony or just fuck off all together and we will resume the fucking case in the morning”. Your glaring at Douglas, waiting for him to bite back, but he shakes his head

“You better keep your word Dwayne, Y/N. Tomorrow morning 10am I want an update on what you know” he says as he turns and walks out the door. Your trying to calm yourself back down again when you feel the arms you so desperately adore being wrapped around your waist as he whispers

“That was very hot Y/N. Now can we get back to the vows?” you look at your fiance and nod

“Of course we can Dwayne” you say giving his hand a gentle squeeze.

You Did Good

bumping shoulders into each other - Dwayne Pride x reader

The two of you are walking back to the cars after wrapping up the case, you’d handed over the suspects to the police, you’d been checked out after one of the suspects had pulled a knife on you and attacked you with it causing a small laceration to the upper arm which had luckily not required a trip to the hospital or any stitches.  To say Dwayne is proud of you and the way you handled yourself is an understatement, so he does the one thing he knows you will reciprocate fully and being on your uninjured side he bumps into your shoulder gently and you smile, returning the gesture.

“You did good out there Y/N” he says and you look up at the man that you admired so much and give a sheepish smile

“Really?” you ask and he nods

“Really, not everyone would be able to handle themselves the way you did Y/N, especially with someone carrying a knife but you did well” he praises. You reach out and give his hand a gentle squeeze

“Thanks Pride, I appreciate it” you say and he squeezes back, eyes not leaving yours as he does so. And suddenly like a magnet being drawn together, so are you, your arms wrapping around his neck as he wraps his around your waist pulling you closer as your lips crash together. And suddenly everything feels right in the world.
