BARRIER AGGRESSION № 4 DSM V - NCSA: Opening Move Analysis

The National Council on Severe Autism's president Jill Escher likes to describe relatively lower support needs autistic people as being "hyper privileged", to the point of not being disabled at all.

This talking point works great for Jill when she's surrounded by her fellow NCSA members and allies, or when she's invited as a guest by outsiders to the disability world who trust her as an "expert" on autism.

But when Jill tries this "opening move" while on the podcast of a doctor who is NOT aligned with the NCSA's agenda of discrediting autistic people other than those they personally consider sympathetic… well… it doesn't go well for her.

BARRIER AGGRESSION № 18 | "NCSA Vs. Spectrum News"

The National Council on Severe Autism (NCSA) accuses Spectrum News, a neurodevelopmental disability news feed platformed on The Transmitter, of being a propaganda outfit that churns out biased articles that attack the legitimacy and visibility of autistic people the NCSA describes severe cases.

Given that the NCSA read only the first 9% of a Spectrum article about lower support needs autistic people facing workplace discrimination and presented that out of context to be a hit piece that spread prejudice against the autistic children and patients of NCSA members, I somehow don't find them trustworthy.

Given that Spectrum previously provided rather favorable coverage of NCSA president Jill Escher, I examine this group's current beef with Spectrum News and examine whether or not there's something deeper potentially at play.

BARRIER AGGRESSION № 5 NCSA Vs. The Fake Autistic Cabal

The National Council on Severe Autism's president Jill Escher and NCSA board member Dr. Lee Wachtel (who is somehow in a position of leadership at a hospital for disabled children) seem to believe that a cabal of insidious autism impersonators has seized control of a US government committee to carry out censorship and erasure of those Lee says have "true autism", which happens not to be a clinically or scientifically recognized phrase.

Wouldn't it be really strange if it turned that this claim had absolutely nothing to do with real life and was simply published to mobilize the public against disabled people the NCSA happens to disapprove of for having an academically and scientifically validated space within the same diagnostic semantic space as their own children and patients?

Rather than "autism advocacy", the NCSA almost seems like a group that's trying to promote targeted dislike of autistic people.

NCSA Researchers Develop HarvestHub to Combat Food Insecurity

Researchers from the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA) have launched a new app to

address food insecurity and supply chain issues. The app, named HarvestHub, is designed for mobile devices and aims to support those facing food insecurity by improving food traceability.

The NCSA genomics team and Visual Analytics Group created HarvestHub. The app is intended to heal COVID-damaged supply chains, assist farmers in increasing production, and deliver food to families in need.

Recognized for its outstanding efforts, HarvestHub received accolades at the 2023 National Agricultural Marketing Summit in Arlington, VA. The app was praised by state and local MarketMaker collaborations, which contribute to local and regional food systems, helping farmers connect to new market opportunities.
