unpopular opinion: it was rly mean and kind of unwarranted for della to be so rude to launchpad in the episode when she came home, i wanted them to be friends :'((((

Was Della snapping at LP, who gave her a warm, sweet welcome, mean of her? Yes, yes it was.
BUT. We have to look at the circumstances during their interaction.Â
Della just returned from the moon and just reunited with her family. She over-eagerly and desperately tried to connect with her sons just to act irresponsibly and make mistakes, realising how hard parenting is and that building a relationship to her kids is going be not as easy as sheâd imagined it to be like.
Plus, she just overheard that her kids have trouble to adapt to this new situation, especially Louie, who is kind of wary towards her; and sheâs convinced that Scrooge thinks she âisnât a momâ (she didnât hear the rest of his sentence, so she doesnât know thatâs not what he meant⌠big, unfortunate misunderstanding). She is ridden by self-doubt, anxiety and guilt, convinced that she is a terrible mother and ruined everything.
And then this guy shows up and he is unmistakably a pilot. A pilot!!!! Della failed at so many things, being a pilot was the one thing left she thought she was good at. But apparently she isnât even needed for that, because this⌠guy is doing her job!!! Replaced her!!!
Della finally snapped. And she directed her frustrations towards LP, who just was at the wrong place at the wrong time.
Itâs clear that Della snapping at LP is the result of all the tension building up inside of her until she couldnât take it anymore.
Was it nice or fair of her? Definitely not, LP did nothing wrong.
But I am sure their first meeting would have played out very differently during different circumstances. We know that Della makes friends easily and loves to get to know to new people and connect with them. Launchpad and her a both huge dorks who share the same passion.
Letâs see what the DT crewâs plans are for this two, but I bet their rocky start is gonna get resolved somehow and they are gonna be best pilot buddies for sure!
