author’s note i’m laying in bed, listening to this song, and it just came to me. i know it’s nothing special or amazing, it is just calm. it made me feel calm. i hope it makes you feel calm too!
Do you know that scene from a romance movie where the light is dimmed out, there’s glasses of wine in the coffee table and a slow song no one ever heard of but it sounds so nice for the moment you don’t even bother figuring out who sings it or its name, you just stay there listening, suddenly glad you noticed it playing on the radio? The air in the room so relax and calm you don’t have any worry in your mind.
That exact scene was being recreated effortlessly in your apartment. Well, not yours only, yours and Taeyong’s. You were relaxing in the living room, sipping off of your glass of tinted wine, listening nonchalant to the chop chop of the vegetables coming from the kitchen, Taeyong going all out for your dinner night together, cooking entrances and main courses and everything. You tried to help him, but he insisted to cook the entire thing on his own since it was your date night, so he just wanted you to enjoy the evening and his company.
So you did. You sat on the couch and drank your wine, just waiting for the dinner to be ready.
That’s it, until your ears catch the music playing on the radio, and with a little bit of alcohol running in your system, you get up from and start mindlessly switching your weight from foot to foot, dancing slowly with no care for appearances, just enjoying the moment.
You had your eyes closed, so at the same time you were spinning around the coffee table holding you wine glass close, Taeyong caught sight of you, and without realizing it, he just stood there for a while, observing the little pretty dance number you were putting in the living room next to the kitchen.
If only you opened your eyes, you would see the look on your boyfriend’s eyes, filled with complete adoration for you. A little smile escaped from his lips, eyes a little wide wondering how you managed to spin and dance so gracefully after half of a merlot bottle, the little white dress balancing along with your body, barefoot tip-toing on the carpet floor.
Gracious. That’s the word for the scene he was witnessing, it was all graceful. The woman he loved, dancing around your house, waiting for him fo finish both your dinners for your date night. The whole scenario he thought was only possible on a silly love song or a cliché movie, yet, he was living in at the moment.
And suddenly, it wasn’t silly or cliché. It was happy. And it was everything he ever dreamed of.
