Merry Christmas!

“Gran, can you tell me about the star pirate?”

The older woman turned away from her book, looked at her grandchild and smiled. “Now where did you hear about such a silly thing?” She teased. When she saw that the child was serious, her eyes widened before she looked down back at her book, eyes swimming with emotions.

“Ah, he was a friend,” she murmured quietly. Then she looked back up again with a smile. “I don’t suppose you’d like to hear the story?” She asked. Th small child bounce up and down excitedly before scrambling over and climbed into the grandmother’s lap. The grandmother placed her book to the side and wrapped her arms around the child. Once they were comfortable, the woman began.

“Once upon a time, there was a prince. He wasn’t any ordinary prince, he was the prince of the stars! He lived up in the sky, governing the galaxies with his loyal subjects. He had hair as black as they sky, and eyes as deep as the deepest sea. They twinkled and glowed, as if the whole galaxy rested in them.

“However, he fell in love with a human of earth, which is forbidden. He and the human loved to spend their time by the water, the prince was so ethereal standing in the light of the moon surrounded by the sea. The human was just as deeply in love with him as he was with her. He visited her every night, but he was soon caught by an evil man who wished to overthrow him. Once his secret was discovered, his subjects threw him from the stars and cast him down to earth.”

“That’s terrible!” The child cried. The grandmother patted their back.

“He was found and captured by pirates who treated him terribly. He fell ill all the time and his once heart of gold turned to stone after being separated from his loved and casted down by his own people. As he grew older, he soon took over as captain of the ship. He sailed right into the stars and was never seen from again. They say every time you see a shooting star, it is him sailing by, seeking revenge for his mistreatment. Of course I don’t believe he became so cruel.” The grandmother finished her story.

The child climbed out of her lap and departed to their room. It had grown dark outside and soon the stars could be seen. The grandmother leaned outside to look, a small smile appearing on her face. “I know you’re out there Ten,” she snickered before drawing the windows shut.

A shooting star flew by over the house.

Merry Christmas Dest! Boy did I have way too much fun being your secret santa. I nearly died laughing when I saw that you were my elf, I also tried hard to act like Josh after you made that joke about Josh being your secret santa ( hence the really crappy rap about Ten rupturing your spleen 😂😂 ). I eventually gave up and just went with the flow.
